If you have done a reset or see code on your radio and need the sn to get the antifheft code from honda's database..heres what you do.

turn off unit press and hold #1 & #6 presets while turning the radio on. the display toggles between 2 screens the first displays a U and the second screen an L. Ignore the letters that's your units serial # Ex. U1234 L4321 your serial # is 12344321. Honda just enters that on their puter and you have the antitheft code put in by honda. Beats tearing out the radio.

What thief is going to steal a stock head unit?

A potential thief would review the threads on this board and realize the stock unit is a POS.

I don't see how. All this gives the thief is the radio serial number which is written on the radio itself. This just saves an owner from having to remove the radio from the dash if they need to reset their radio. A thief will already have the radio removed and wouldn't need this trick.

Anyways, why would anybody want to steal the factory radio? It's crap.

 

I had a stock HU stolen from a car before. Beats me why, if they would have asked I would have given them the $20 they might have gotten for it. I would have upped it to $50 or even $100, far cheaper then the deductible.

I didn't even have the car a month and they ripped the dash apart and put a whole in the door to get to the lock.

 

I put it up here because some honda dealers dont put the code sticker in the trunk and lots of used hondas have been repainted or the sticker removed.

wickerbill hit it on the head. it saves you the labor, you still have to go thru honda but all they do is punch it in at ths svc mgr's desk.

There is an easier way... inside my armrest storage unit is a sticker. That is the code for your radio. they actually put these stickers in your car in several places for this purpose. My service manager showed me this.

 

My stickers were still in my owners manual, plus the little card with instructions.
Suggestion for newbies. Put the stickers in a hidden location, file the card in your house, write the number in your manual ( somewhere not obvious ).
