Mid-Atlantic...C-A-L-E-N-D-A-R -- Post your interest here!
Okay, no one denies our regional club's enthusiasm over our S2000 and our fellow S2K owners
. Thinking about this a little further, AgS2K (Steve) and I are planning to create a calendar for our Mid-A peers
. We are gunning for it to be available as a 2004 wall hanger (however, interest & timing for photo-sessions are imperative to making this deadline possible). Steve and his wife Trish have already been toying with some styles and I must say I am thoroughly impressed.
Our intention is to offer this calendar as a monthly representation of some of the most beautiful S2000s offered in the Mid-Atlantic area. Some months are expected to be "stills" while others will be "action" shots. Each month will feature interesting facts about the performance of our S2000. Intriguing silhouettes will be the background for the 7-day-week Sunday thru Saturday calendar. And given Steve's experience behind the camera (you can review his digital skills at his website, www.boilingpointphoto.com), as well as his wife Trish's graphics design background, we anticipate this Mid-Atlantic calendar and each month's photo to be something that you won't just want to look at...but that you'll also want to frame. We anticipate sizing layout of the calendar to offer full 8x10 presentations fit for framing.
Although we don't have a definite price yet, we anticipate that it should be in the $15 ballpark, comparable to the finest car calendars on the market, uniquely "Mid-Atlantic" in flavor, and *definitely* all about our fantastic S2000s in this region
.
So at this time we're asking for folks to post here with their interest. Please take thought in your reply

Keep the suggestions for shooting locations coming! We need all we can get!
I'd like to schedule shooting times that are independent of any events/get togethers as those should really be used to have fun driving and meeting fellow S2K owners, not listening to me yell out "TURN YOUR WHEELS 1/2 TURN TO THE LEFT! THAT'S GOOD, NOW BACK UP ABOUT 2 FEET!!!"
One exception to the above statement is that I would like to try to shoot some of our cars at the Fall Colors event; either during some of the drive time or at some point between events. I'll try to work out the details of that in the coming weeks.
I do a bit of traveling in Virginia and Maryland with my sports photography business (Boiling Point Photography) and it might make sense to try to combine some S2000 shoots around those travels.

- First off, seriously, are you interested in the idea of a Mid-Atlantic calendar?
- Would you purchase such a specialized project/calendar if it could be offered for ~ $15?
- Also, are you yourself interested in having your S2000 considered for this calendar effort?
- And finally, Steve and I are extremely interested in having you folks suggest scenic background locals for these quality photo-shoots.

I'd be interested in all of the above dave, that sounds like a great idea! I dont know how soon you're trying to do this but if you give me a month or so I plan on having some wheels and a few more nice goodies. as for backrounds I know of a really old industrial area down in lynchburg that's pretty cool looking.
Thanks,
Dave
Thanks,

I bought the California S2000 calendar last year and everyone comments about it when they come to my house. It was more than $15. Yes, I would be interested in purchasing.
Additionally, two locales in my neck of the woods come to mind for stills: 1) Quantico's Marina overlooking the Potomac(morning shot would be best) and 2) our golf course. Dave, you'll finally get to see my suggestion for an action shot today!

Lastly, I believe everyone would like to see his/her car in print!
Since our area has so many choice vehicles, perhaps some pics could have a couple of cars in them and/or maybe an 18-month format for the calendar. Can you tell I'm interested?

4) Oh many places, soldiers delight state park, pretty much anywhere where my gf's parents live in Frederick, Rocky Gap (even though that's 2 hours west of me), and of course there are numerous places in Baltimore

Final cost will most likely be determined by the total number of calendars produced at one time. The Cali guy ended up trying to sell the calendars on E-bay 'cause the West Coasters didn't snag 'em up at about $30 a pop.
I don't how much he had to farm out on the project, therefore I do not know his production costs.
I do believe that Mid-A's.

Couldn't resist, Tep!
HELL YEAH!!
I'm in! That's a genius idea, Dave.
I mean...
why should the west coast owners have all the glory? It's our turn to shine...cuz we have the tightest crew.
I'd definitely be interested in purchasing 2 Calendars if this were to become reality.
Also, since I don't have time to show my S, I'd love to be a part of this Mid-A Calendar...as soon as I get some minor things touched up and get my Mugen 3 piece installed, etc...
I'll think up some ideas for backdrops/scenery.

Will these photo shoots for potential "calendar" S2K's
be done all at once, or as an ongoing thing through the Winter?

I'd buy one in a minute as long as the cars were definitely recognizable Mid-A folks' and not generic shots.
And frankly, I'd be dissapointed if the Chiquita stiker didn't make an appearance.
I think at least a few group shots would be a good idea so we could have more of our cars featured.
