Mazda does it AGAIN! Mis-represented HP on the new RX-8, now 238hp, instead of 247!

I remember where Mazda settled with Miata owners about a year or so ago. They agreed to "buy back" their Miata or give them some accessory credits and/or monetary pay outs of some sort because the claimed horsepower was not correct. Looks like they are at it again. Geez.

Original RX-8 horsepower ratings wrong so Mazda offers rebate

So does that mean Mazda owners can get 10+ HP by just ECU tuning?

Some say that this new 238HP rating is still extremely optimistic, I think its more like 225.

In Miami, Mazda dealers have already begun selling the RX-8's for invoice or close to it. One dealer has 20-something RX-8 sitting at their lot.

I think the RX-8 is not nearly the car it was cracked up to be. That was before the de-rated power, now that it has been lowered and I've seen dyno numbers, I know that to be true.

such BS. based on the dynos out there, it's NOWHERE NEAR the already reduced number. it puts 180 to the wheels... given that the s2k with a very similar configuration puts down 195-200 stock, and is rated at 240, it's pretty hard to say a 238hp car puts down 180. 25% drivetrain loss is unacceptable for a car with a manual tranny.
