Default Is My Old Datsun Quicker than the S?

I went for a spin last night with a good mate of mine who bought my Nissan 200SX from me before I got my S. Having had the 200SX for nearly 5 years I know it

I had a 200SX (99) before I got the S2000 (about 2.5 months ago). I'd say they are pretty similar in terms of performance.

I think the 'official' 0-60 times are 6.4 for the Nissan and 6.2 for the Honda. The Nissan gave you more of a kick in the back sensation when the turbo kicked in, while the Honda has a more progressive acceleration.

You'd probably go quicker with the roof up aswell!

I did a similar 200SX vs Porsche 996 C2 a year ago or so and my mate driving the 911 said that he was having to really nail the Porker to keep up in the early stages of acceleration. Once we got to 90ish I just waved the 911 goodbye as it past me as if I was standing still.

Great cars the 200SX, how do you find the S2000 compares in the wet?

If you want to go faster - put the top up and the airbox lid ON!

Lid off sounds nice - but loses power.

top down and airbox off---no

roof up and airbox on----yes

0-60 times deceptive for this car, the first 30mph or so you don't hit vetec, IMO acceleration only really apparent after this

S2000 is easier to drive in the wet, although obviously not THAT easy.

The 200sx was VERY tail happy, you had to drive like an old woman when it rained!

Doesn't surprise me at all. We still had Lee's 200SX for a little while after getting the S2000. The turbo kicking in at about 2K revs helps it against the S initially and, depending on what speed you take them both up to, you may get away with one less gear change in the Nissan (and I don't mean because it only has 5 forward gears ).

Top speed is higher in the Nissan too IIRC.

But who wants to hear a whistling turbo when you can hear instead?!!
