Default Guess which color retains its value the best?

My friend asked me to look up some info on a used car for him, so I went to www.edmunds.com to do some poking around for used car prices. While there, I thought it would be interesting to see how much my car (MY2000) was worth. So I entered my info and looked at the report and I noticed this line called "Color Adjustment", which got me more curious and entered different colors to see what would happen to the adjustment while keeping everything else the same. Guess which color retains its value the best?

Edmunds gave the following for dealer retail value:
Black: -$101
Yellow: -$47 (of course, there was no yellow S2000 for MY2000)
Red: +$86
Silver: +$101
White: +$123

These results may be specific to my ZIP code and the condition/mileage of the car, but I thought it is interesting to see that the GPW did the best in retaining its value.

Wow. that's a GRAND total of: $224 between the "best" and "worst" colors.

I think it has more to do with what color is "hot" at the time you are selling it.

it could also have to do with the number of the cars painted that color.. GPW is I believe the least amount of cars in that color...

OR,

it could just be that edmunds pulls this crap out of their arses.

they have (d)evolved into shills for automobile dealers. you can't tell what pieces of information are adverts and what is "journalism". they censor their boards like no others, too.

DOWN WITH EDMUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is very true and is especially true for the '02 GPW w/all red int(rarest color combo).

I thought about this, but if you add Sebring + Silverstone in either Red OR black interior, you would have BY FAR the highest numbers. and Silver is listed as #2.

It has to do with what color is hot at the time, and what people are buying.

-$101 or not, I wouldn't trade my car's color for anything else! When properly maintained, and it's a pain in the ass, black looks the the best! Just my opinion.

'Nuff said.

I love black cars (not just S2k's.) I even once had a black car. The key word is ONCE. Never again.

Keep yours looking good for us though. I for one like to look at your hard work.

I have it on good authority that these numbers are absolutely accurate and that they are based on nothing more than good taste (or the lack thereof).

Seriously though, the only surprise is that yellow even made the list.
