I presented the "Delivery Instrutions Letter" from s2ki's FAQ to my dealer 1 month before the arrival of my car. When I picked up my car last Thursday, the dealer showed me my letter with everything checked off as "completed".

I drove the car 450 miles over the past 5 days. When I parked my car next to another S2K today, I noticed that my vechile was 4" higher. They dealer never removed the shipping strut supports. The warning says not to drive over 12mph with these braces in, and my car has travelled up to speeds of 60mph.

What has potentially happened to my car? The dealer is flat-bedding the vechicle this afternoon, but what else should I worry about? Was there potential for structural damage? How would you react? I told these guys in writing to remove these braces...

Any advise is greatly appreciated?

Are you talking about the spring spacers or something else? I haven't heard of any strut braces before.

Can I ask who the dealer was?

I would be seriously pissed off, especially considering you presented the list.

I bought mine from Pottstown Honda and the spacers had been removed.

Sorry to hear about that. Did you go over any bumps or potholes that seem to jar the car? Beat up the dealer for some freebies or an extended warranty. Makes you wonder if they did anything you asked...

On a side note, welcome and I hope you enjoy your S2k as much as the rest of us...

I am trying to get a meet happening in your neck of the woods. I was hoping to go for a cruise and have a meet in New Hope PA. The date is Saturday June 23. Here's the link to the post I made under the meet forum: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=15089

Hope to see you there!!!

Did a dealer rep. sign the checklist indicating it was done? If so, go to the manager and ask for a replacement vehicle. What damage was done? No one here can say for sure. The speed limititation is due to handling characteristic concerns....more important is that with the spacers in, the car sees a very different vibration spectrum then it was designed and tested for. It may have done nothing and then it may have created future issues. If the dealer signed it was perfromed and it wasn't.....take 'em to task for GROSS Negligence.......new car.

I agree with Utah...If the delievery paper was signed off, then I would definitely push for new car.

More than probably there's no damage at all. If you want to press the issue, go ahead, but many peeps have reported the same incident with no adverse consequences...yet. I really don't view this as the big deal the tag suggests.

Just my two cents.

I appreciate everybody's feedback. I picked up the vehicle this evening. It was late, and the dealer had gone home-- the keys were handed to me from a late-shift employee.

When I originally picked up the car, the dealer showed me the list of checked off items and told me all was complete. Being a non-confrontational person, I didn't ask him to sign it (although I wish I had). I don't even have the letter all together. Everybody was very nice and I hate to be causing pain-- even today I was impressed that the dealer sent out a flat-bed within a couple of hours of my call.

Which brings me to this. They know they messed up and I'm sure they'll be willing to help me out. Since I don't have the signed "check list", I'm probably going to draft a new letter which states that the dealer was negligent. I'll have them sign it and I'll keep it in a safe place should the worst happen. I'm thinking more aligns of S2Kguy's comments.

Tough situation, and I don't really want to wait another 3 months for a new car-- or is that silly?. Utah, you think this is that serious. The vacillation is killing me.
