New Hella Horn for the S2000, Easy and Quick Install !!
My stock horn has always bothered me, too wimpy !! So I finally decided to replace it with a Hella Horn. On my past cars I always used the dual Hella air horns, but on my last car I bought the Hella Supertone horns and loved them. I used this thread below for the bumper removal which only took about 20 minutes.
I only used one of the two Hella Horns, I used the 300 Hz horn, the lower toned one and painted it black to it wouldn't stick out too much. Take a look of the stock horn vs one Hella Supertone Horn.
I mounted it exactly where the stock one was, and only had to extend the 12v feed about 4 inches, the - of the horn gets grounded to the arm of the mount behind the new horn.
Install was quick and easy, and the sound is GREAT, nice and LOUD !!!! I would definitely recommend it for anyone, and if you have the 2002 and up, just use both horns you are already wired for two. This was the cheapest place I found to but the Hella Supertones.
Yes, either would be an improvement. The red one in the picture is the other one I have, I can send it to you for $25 shipped to your door. You can PayPal me or send a money order, Pm me with your preference, and I will forward you my information. The new horn is sweet, I love it !!!
Do you have to remove the bumper to install it ? How about installing both, the high and low tone horns ? I have been keeping my eye for these Hella Supertone on ebay, they usually go for anywhere between 45-60 bucks. How much did you pay for yours ?
It is a lot easier to install by taking off the bumper. Use the link at the bottom of my first postfor the Hella Horns, they are only like $60 plus shipping, and you can eith use both, or use one and sell the extra one. The whole install can be done in about an hour if you are good with tools, but this is a great mod for about $60.
Reedz of Rick's told me to use these over the airhorns I was trumpeting. Had them for almost 1.5 years, and they do the job quite well. Also IMO a good fit for the personality of the car.
I installed the second horn below the original horn. Wired the power from the battery and used the relay. Great sound. Loud. Scared a driver so much he flipped me off. Felt great!
