You said it there!

The heat tends to dry & shrivel the seals. They only need a lubrication, if they're caught in time.

It's a routine maintenance issue, I think the handbook recommends every three months.

I replaced a set on my MX-5 and it was a complete waste of time! I should have left the old ones soak for longer!

FWIW, this Honda Service Bulletin for a rattling hood, also includes the greasing of the seals with Shin Etsu grease.. I asked my dealer to do mine whilst the car is in for it's 27k. Will see what they say when I get it back.. hopefully this weekend.

I had mine 'sealed/greased' a year ago and it was fine but now it leaks a little near where the window meets the roof meets the windscreen. Only on the drivers side however.

Can I get this Shin Etsu grease stuff in Hellfords or will Honda do this While you wait if I popped in tomorrow? Is it simple to do etc.? ( I assume you just rub some along where the roof joins the windows?)

It would seem the original warranty should cover the seals - the extended Honda Care Warranty does not.

My advice; just before the original warranty runs out do a water test on your roof seals with a jet wash, if you do have a water ingress get them changed before your original warranty runs out. Iif not face a
