Power Antenna Wire?
I finally got my JVC KD-SH99 MP3 head unit and wired that bad boy up.... Only problem is my radio reception is awfull... I'm only getting half the stations I used to... The radio has an 11.3dbf FM sensitivity, so I can't imagine its the radios fault (but I'm sure it is anyways)... I didn't wire up the power antenna wire (since we don't have power antennas). Does any one know what honda used this wire for? There is no electrical booster or anything is there?
Other than this problem, the stereo is awsome. Only take 5 seconds to load my disk with 16 dirctories and 144 files on it. Track to track is instantaneous, so is the random feature. When I turn the car off and back on it resume in the exact spot I left it...
Here are some pics, I'll try to take some better ones later:

The S2000 has a "pre-amp" between the stock head and the antenna. There's a lead from the stock head to the pre-amp to turn it on. If you didn't attach that, you're running with the pre-amp off and ruining your radio reception.
According to Macgyver's web page it is pin #1 yellow/green wire.

Thanks Barry... Just curious, but what is your source ... the helm manual?
I'll try wiring that up and see if that helps... Is there any thing special about this wire? The power antenna lead is only milli amps (200mA to be precise). Is that enough to turn on this pre-amp?

I wired up a PAC unit. The JVC doesn't have a mute wire, so that button isn't doing anything. Also, there is no "source" button on the remote. It has one button per source (i.e., CD, FM, AM, AUX, LIN). So, I wired the audio control to the next directory/next preset station button and the channel button to the next track/scan up button. Volume is still wire to to volume up and down. All in all it work pretty well.
Some other interesting things about the unit:
You can do random across the whole disk, but that is the only random feature for MP3s
You can repeat a directory or a song.
You can do intros on mp3 disks.
You can name all your stations and up to 40 disks (non-mp3)
The EQ is very good.
The max volume is about 30% louder then the stock, but still not loud enough for me. But, yes, you can hear it clearly when the top is down and you are doing 100mph...
Guess thats all the intersting stuff....
