That's a bit misleading - he wasn't jailed for speeding, but for refusing to pay the fine.

Cant see what the problem is (and i hate gatsos) the guy was doing 38mph in a 30 zone so clearly speeding

He has repeatedly refused to pay his fine and been jailed for it

Exactly.

He was unaware that a country lane with streetlights is a 30 limit UNLESS otherwise indicated and had assumed 40 was the correct speed.

This incensed the guy and made him question the point of the camera being there too.

Don't there have to be lit signs before the change from an NSL to a 30 mph (not sure if this was the case - just checking for piece of mind) ?

Don't think so - this is one of those weird things you learn for your driving test, but never put into practice

It would certainly never occur to me to slow down to 30 in these circumstances - the local authority seem to spend
