Default Scratches on Metal Trim Surrounding Gear Shift Lever - Warning to the Wise!!!!

My gold bracelete has removed the gray coating from the metal trim surrounding the gear shift lever leaving the brighter chrome underneath exposed. Just a warning for those who wear bracelets. If anyone has experienced this problem and has a remedy, please advise. I could understand minor scratches, but the removal of the coating itself doesn't speak well for the quality of the trim piece.

I had the same problem but I had removed trying to buff out the scratches. the whole console comes as one part. I would take it to the dealer and try to get it replaced under warranty- if you know the service mgr and he/she won't do it--BRIBE 'em

Seriously ask them if you gave them 50.00 if they would do it, just ask w/ no one around. the part wholesale will be 120.00 new around 170.00 Just from my expierence

The piece is plastic, that's why it doesn't hold up.

Isn't there an OEM JDM titanium piece that can be attached on top of that?

Maybe we just need to get a group buy on that piece.

You can buff it all out. It will turn a brighter color of silver! I love it and next to nobody has it done. I hate the dull look it had before!

Just buff it up and don't wear bracelets!

Thanks for all the ideas.

Pinky, what did you use to buff the trim? A polish or other very mild abrasive? I'll have to sit in the car tonight and try and get a mental picture of how it would look totally shiney. Maybe that's not a bad solution. Would certainly be an improvement over how it looks now!

RWIRSING371, I will check out the possibility of replacing under warranty with my salesperson.

Sunchild, do you know that a titanium replacement actually exists. If so, please give us a source. I can then pursue a group buy since I'm certain that many of us have had this problem.

I have scratches on mine as well, but I attribute this to it being on the dealer's showroom floor. I do not wear jewelry on my right arm, so I have surmised that it must have been someone who sat in it in the showroom.

The scratches are only visible in the sun, so I didn't see them when I purchased the vehicle. I'll have the dealer replace it under warranty. In my mind, it was a damaged part when purchased, and thus should be replaced at their cost.

By the way, has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with Dublin Honda (CA)?
