Default Alpine CD Changer vs OEM CD Changer

Hey guys - saw a thread posted on this subject but I wasn't able to respond to it for some reason. Anyway, just wanted to give you some info:

The OEM CD Changer is identical to the current Alpine 6 Disk CD Changer that you can buy from your local shop (at least here in the states). There are 2 lines of the Alpine, as the Ai-NET is not the Alpine changer that I am referring to.

Honda licenses the Alpine CD Changer, slaps it own plastic on it and usually manufactures "custom" Honda CD Changer cages to protect it... And oh yea... they modify the pins in the connectors so there is a direct connect with OEM radios, and not Alpine radios... Bottom line: go with the Alpine CD Changer route if you're going to keep your stock radio and buy the conversion pin adapter for $15 / $20. It's the same dam thing and you'll save a few bucks...

(I worked in car stereo back in the day at Circuit City).

...and man, did Honda put no thought into our stock systems or what !!!

Will the base Alpine changer work with the stock stereo? Is the adapter available at the same place the changer is purchased, or is this a honda accesory? Do these changers have a "random" feature that will randomly play tracks from all CDs in the unit? Thanks.

I have an older CHMS600 changer and it works perfect.
The adapter is aftermarket, aand can be purchased where you buy the changer. Just remember M-Bus NOT AI-Net,
The random feature still works

This is useful stuff - I'm looking to do the basic upgrade to 6CD.

As I'm in the UK, the cost of buying the kit from Honda is way too high (c.$500 equivalent!), so I'll just buy a CHM S620 Alpine changer from my local audio store.

BUT I'd like to keep the install looking as stock as possible, so was considering buying the CD Autochanger Install Kit from Honda (that way I get the bracket, cover etc.).

Question:

Does anyone know whether Honda do anything to the casing of the changer that would mean a standard Alpine unit wouldn't fit the bracket (bolt holes etc.) - or am I all set for a trouble free install?

Any thoughts very welcome.

I would be interested in a changer if it could fit under a seat. I don't like changing cds with a manual transmition and would have gotten the factory one, but at the same time I need my whole trunk and don't like the fact I can't change cartridges with it back there.

Can anyone tell me if there is an adapter to convert the Honda 6 Disc Changer data cable into the DIN format that most aftermarket units require. I talking about the round adapter as opposed to the square one. I have just bought a Rockford Fosgate head unit and want to use my Honda 6 Disc changer with it. If so, where can I get this adapter?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
