I bought a new dry and washer from Best Buy. A mail in rebate was offered and I went ahead to mail the receipt and rebate form in. It's been 8 weeks now and guess what NO REBATE! So I get on the horn call Best Buy and th operator there tells me they never received it? Why do I get the feeling that this is all a sham. Me thinks retailers are betting that peeps like you and me lose or forget to make copies! F*cking Retailers YOu GOT ME MAD!!!

 

uh oh, I'm about to go to Bestbuys to buy a laptop afterwork...
better make a copy before sending it back...

Best Buy did the same to me on a laptop rebate. I had copies and faxed 'em in and took another 2 weeks.

ALWAYS keep copies of EVERYTHING when mailing in a rebate...especially to Best Buy.

 

Yep, bought a laptop from Bestbuy, had 2 rebates, one from BB, the other from HP. Got the one from BB, but never did get the one from HP. After calling them, they pretty much said "too bad, we never got it, it's not our problem"

I'll never buy another HP product again. It was for $150.

 

It is a scam. I have twice been told I did not send in the right UPC code, which was BS. I had copies to prove it. They do everything they can to avoid payment. I'll bet employees get bonuses depending on how many people they screw out of their rebates. Even 60 minutes did an expose on this.

 

Yeah, I try to avoid mail in rebates when I can help it. and I keep copies/records of everything I send, and the dates I'm supposed to get my money etc.

They usually send the rebates a month or two late, and after a few phone calls.

 

fwiw, i bought an ati video card at fry's and the ati people sent me a rebate nice and quick.

and yeah. i mailed in a couple rebates to best buy, but got nothing back. shady company... lol

 

Mail in rebates suck because of their design. The companies know about the high rate of not having to pay them. 50% of people forget to send them in or miss the deadline, then another 40% don't make copies of the submissions. If you don't recieve the rebate 8-10 weeks later, usually you have forgetten about it, or forgotten who you sent it to or who to call/ write.

It's a great design for them, but it sucks for the consumer.

 

i bought a digicam from best buy a few months ago and sent in for my rebate, and the same thing happened, my upc code wasn't right they said and then when i finally got it, LAST WEEK, the rebate check had already expired and i bought the camera at the end of november also just to add. I finally got a hold of them and they are sending me a new check.

 

OUCH!!! That sucks! Sorry to hear that Mr. Wantone! Hopefully stuff will get better for you.
