M*THER F*CKING Mail-In Rebates! Grrrrrrr...
It took three months before I got my rebate for shipping and handling on a washer and dryer from Best Buy.
It took less than a month before I got my rebate on a fax machine from Best Buy. Go figure.

I picked up an HP printer in Nov. from Office Depot and sent in the rebate. Two weeks later I had to exchange the printer because of a problem. Even though I exchanged it for the exact same printer they refused to pay after I register the new one on-line. $50 down the drain.
Yea rebates suck. I got a postcard saying that my rebate wasn't within the purchase date, but I know it was because Bestbuy had printed up the rebate slip for me. So I wrote an email to rebates.com (or whatever the website is) and they said there was no problem with my rebate, but I have yet to receive anything.
It is a scam. I would say 3 out of 10 people gets their rebate and the rest is lucked out thru no fault of their own. I was told before that they (companies, from one of their reps actually) have a quota to the amount that can be rebated and once it is met, the rebate offer ends. So, knowing this. Screw rebates. Stick with coupons!
Argh, I'm going through the same thing with Radio Shack. I've been waiting for my $80 rebate on an RCA cable modem for 3 months now. First, I received a post card stating that the correct UPC code wasn't included with the original rebate card (impossible, I sent them the entire side of the box). Now I've resent all the necessary information and followed up with them a few times. . . but something tells me I'm never getting my $80. What a pain.
I haven't had any problems with manufacturers' mail-in rebates, and store mail-in rebates. That includes BB. Most of the time though I look for the instant store rebate and the manufacturers' rebate.
