I just got a ticket for 80 miles an hour on a twin span 20mile long bride. The speed limit is now 60 used to be 70. It would seem to me that an aircraft time based ticket would count as intrapment. Similar to hiding behind a sign etc. Any thoughts?

 

They usually post signs in the areas where this method is used. Where there any ?

Somehow, despite the way I drive , I've managed to get only one speeding ticket (knocks on wood). That one was timed by aircraft. Guess that's why I haven't bothered to get a Valentine 1 yet...

The officer told me move by move exactly what I had done (lane changes, speed, etc.), so I just said "Yup, you're right, that's what I did." He reduced my ticket from 85 in a 55 to 70 in a 55, 'cause everyone else he had stopped had tried to deny what they had done. Chalk one up for honesty.

Sorry but how can it be entrapment? If you're breaking the law then you're breaking the law. Cops always hide behind trees so what would the difference be?

 

Sorry, but about the closest that would come to entrapment would be if the plane dipped low and tried to coerce you into racing him.

You broke the law, an officer saw you (even if it WAS from the sky), so you pay a fine. We've all been there and thought that it stunk at the time, but I always remind myself "don't do the crime if you can't do the time."

 

I'll pay the ticket if I have to. No prob, but ****, if I don't have to I wont. Just currious, I've never got a ticket from an aircraft before.

 

And yet another advantage of a roadster. At least we have a CHANCE of seeing those "eyes in the sky" if we're top-downin'

 

A friend of mine has one of those books that tells you how to fight a speeding ticket. Suppposedly, the aircraft tickets are the easiest ones to fight.

 

Was that the Ponchatrain (sp) bridge. If so you should have gotten credit for staying awake. I have taken that one several times on the way to Slidell (what a garden spot) and have opened up the rental.
