IRDC High Performance Driving School at SIR July 20-21
Just wanted to let the Seattle area people know about this opportunity:
The International Race Drivers Club is holding a High Performance Driving School on Friday evening (5:45 pm - 10 pm), July 20 (classroom session in Seattle), and Saturday 8 am - 4 pm, July 21 at Seattle International Raceway.
Cost is $225.
Instructors are licensed race drivers.
Classroom session covers car preparation, car control (proper apex, types of turns), car handling (understeer, oversteer, etc.)
Track day includes braking and slalom exercises, several 20 minute lapping sessions with instructor, possible solo lapping session(s).
You can register up to the last minute if they aren't fully booked (I don't know how full they are).
They will accept the S2000 factory roll hoops. They will accept motorcycle helmets.
For more information surf to:

Click on the Driving Schools link on the left side of the screen; from there you can download the PDF information sheet and registration form.
RT, JPit and I did the last one they held, and I thought it was very fun, and very educational. It is a very good first time track event, as they talk you through what you will be doing, cover the course well, and have good instructors. Club-type lapping days generally give you a five minute talk, possibly pair you up with someone who knows the track, and send you out. Plus it's a weekend track day, which is hard to come by.
I'm considering doing it again...

Yes, the $225 covers the whole school, which is both Friday evening classroom and Saturday track day.
Club lapping days are generally $100-$200 for a weekday track day, which means skipping a day of work. The IRDC school doesn't require missing any work.

So I'm seriously thinking of doing this (again).
Jerry, are you in? Ken, how about you? Ray, try out the supercharger and new clutch? Ben? Anyone else?
This school is a great first track day, 'cause they don't just throw you in to the deep end. If you've been thinking of trying out your S2000 in it's natural environment
, this is a great opportunity for a nearby, weekend track day.

Sorry Ted, SC is not ready for the track yet.
Remember the steel bracket I made? Well the weak link just keeps moving back, now the bolt securing the bracket to the engine snapped.
It's fixed (new bolt, busted off piece was a bitch to remove) but I plan on babying the thing until I figure out a better solution.
BTW, Jim Hill brought by an S2000 differential for me to dissect. He got it on loan from one of his racing sponsors so I better not mess it up too bad. My diff was feeling a little crunchy

I'd love to go. However, the wife won't let me. Too close to the due date for our baby. For some reason she doesn't want me shooting around the track at 140 not paying attention to the emergent cell phone call.

I really wish I could go, but I'm seriously strapped for cash right now being that I haven't been working since March, went to Europe for a month, making payments on this car, and flying to see my girlfriend every two weeks.
Any of you know of any restaurant jobs I can take up temporarily?
We all know I need this school more than any of the other people in our S2000 group!

Ray,
I like how you artistically composed that with the Honda logo on the lawn mower in the background.
So is Comptech making any progress finding the cause behind all the symptoms?
