Default Valentine One hookup questions

I just picked up a 2004 S2000 last Friday. I love the car but noticed that the power socket is located adjacent to the seat backrest. What is the easiest way to get another power line in this car? I assume somewhere from the fuse box? Are there any threads on this? I did a couple of searches but didn't see much. I don't need to hardwire it, just want a closer power line so the cord doesn't run down the middle of the car.

I use the power outlet with mine, but I run the cord along the passenger side of the center column. I then stick a digital tire gauge, with the "pointy" side facing in, into the mesh "stuff" holder in the passenger wheel well, and run the wire behind and around it, then up to the V1. Does that make sense? Anyway, it keeps the cord hidden well enough and it doesn't flap around when driving.

do some more searches, there are a bunch of threads in "Electronics" which have some GOOD pictures for hardwiring. I just did it this past weekend and it only took like 30 minutes, very easy. The power can be tapped from down in the fuse box below the steerning column on the left. there is no reason not to do it!

search for like V1 Hardwire Install or something...

Also, while you are at it you can install an extra power outlet in the passenger side kick-panel. I can't remember who it was that did it, but it was a very slick looking job. The sockets are available from Radio Shack for cheap.

Here's like my very first post to S2Ki.com in this thread concerning doing a radar detector hard-wire. http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...hlight=extender

I have a similiar setup in my E46 M3 and I love the fact of hiding all the radar components in case I do get pulled over which of course rarely happens..haha

I wanted a similiar setup in my S2K after picking up the car since having a yellow car is not exactly "low-key" with cops!

My main focus of this install is to keep everything out of site but easily viewable to the driver. The radar unit must be removable since the car is a convertible but must get good view to detect radar/laser. Another big aspect for me is to be able to control the volume of the unit without letting the cops know what I'm doing!

After using velcro and testing various locations for each of the 3 pieces, I think I have found a perfect balance!

check out the pics and let me know what you think!

Any questions feel free to e-mail me: s4playko@yahoo.com or AIM "masterrick19"

late,
rick
