Default Ultimate V-1 Install comprised of a hardwire kit, remote display and volume unit!

I have a similiar setup in my E46 M3 and I love the fact of hiding all the radar components in case I do get pulled over which of course rarely happens..haha

I wanted a similiar setup in my S2K after picking up the car since having a yellow car is not exactly "low-key" with cops!

My main focus of this install is to keep everything out of site but easily viewable to the driver. The radar unit must be removable since the car is a convertible but must get good view to detect radar/laser. Another big aspect for me is to be able to control the volume of the unit without letting the cops know what I'm doing!

After using velcro and testing various locations for each of the 3 pieces, I think I have found a perfect balance!

check out the pics and let me know what you think!

Any questions feel free to e-mail me: s4playko@yahoo.com or AIM "masterrick19"

rick

looks good! i mounted my concealed display on the left side of the dash, above the left vent. works well for me since i am a bit short, and still hides the display from prying eyes behind.

i like the location of the sound component, however, i dont have it.

Overall, nice job of hiding the equipment.

I think the cops would notice the unit in your wind deflector. Maybe lower down would help, or an opaque deflector?

hey guys,

Actually to be honest, I don't like how the V-1 is perched up there that high either and after doing a search, I noticed a few members had similiar setups but they actually cut out a notch in the black plastic part of the deflector and had it poking through that hole which I think is a neat idea! It will definitely be more stealth than what I have and more stable too. I don't have the car with me today but I do believe there is still enough height for the V-1 to have a clear view of to the front of the car which is critically important.

My question then is:

How do you remove the plastic windscreen from the factory OEM compartment to make that cut? I want to try to do the cutout later tonight.

As long as it's held on by velcro and removeable I will like it more I think!

That's why I love this board...so many good ideas and input!

rick

Is your rear window limo tinted. I would imagine the cop seeing you fidget with that to remove it when he's behind you. Might look suspicious.

I just had mine mounted on the passenger visor. A cop would have to squat pretty low to get a good look at it. The only downfall, and it never bothered me, was the loss of the use of the visor.
