Default OEM wheel replacement - clarifcation needed

Ok chaps, i pick up my S on saturday and part of the agreement to me purchasing the car was they sort out the wheels which are suffering from the usual black corrosion and peeling on the spoke edge.

I got a phone call on friday stating they had sorted the wheels and all that was needed now was it to be valeted, so on saturday i popped in to have a look at the car. Nobody was about so i had a good look at the wheels which appear to have been simply sanded down and then sprayed over with silver paint! (badly in places!!!)

When i go to pick the car up on Saturday i want to know is am i entitled to ask for all wheels to be replaced under an 'official' Honda recognised problem, or have i just got to accept the dealers 'good will' of sorting out the wheels?

The car is a 51 plate.

Cheers

Accept nothing less than a brand new set of OEM rims on the car, it IS a known issue and countless sets have been replaced under warranty.

Mind they don't damage the new set when fitting the tyres too

BTW Is it being bought from an official Honda dealer?

It should (just) be in warranty.

You might have to walk away, if they're being that cynical.

Cheers for the replies so far.

Yes it is from an official Honda dealer (Bristol honda).

Oh and the car is a Sep 2001, so its got a few months left on the official warranty. But they warranty the car for an extra 12 months anyway, so it should be covered either way?

Are the wheels covered on the 6 year anti corrosion, or the 3 year/90k warranty?

IIRC,

I think the 6 year is bodyshell perforation due to corrosion, not surface corrosion.

Alloys are three year component corrosion.

If it's Arriva Honda in Bristol, their Service Manager (Ian) is a member on here (albeit he doesn't post very much) so he will be well aware of the problem, both through s2ki and also by virtue of his position and the likelihood that he has had to deal with rim warranty claims before.

If the salesman gives you the runaround, might be worth asking to have a word with Ian and mentioning s2ki......
