Well, it was not without some hassle. Perhaps the 2004 "mouth" plastic inserts are different, but there was no way the Spoon snorkel was going in there without cutting. I had to take about 1" of meat off the bottom otherwise it butted up against the grill slots and would not seat up top into the airbox. It ended up looking much more like the pics below - mine seemed to have a more extended front snout.


Otherwise, the install was un-eventful, other than removing the outer two plastic retainers for the rad cover.

I did not have to completely remove the airbox, but you will need a shop vac handy to gets the bits of the rivets that have to be drilled out.

I did not find the snorkel hit the hood - but I did have to hold the hood a bit higher to close it, so maybe it is. I took some 3/8" foam insulation with adhesive backing and layed it on the high point of the snorkel, sticky side up, then closed the hood - when I opened it, the insulation was not stuck to the hood.

Have not driven it yet, as thunderstorms and dust storms of pine and oak pollen were everywhere.

Besides, i was still hacked off at the abominable tint job done on my Subaru - there are scratches and bubbles everywhere. I will not name the shop unless they do not correct it to my satisfaction. I swear it was the guy's first go at it - it was supposed to take 2 hours but I waited 4.5 for el crappo.

I don't do pics yet - on my list of things to do. It looks like any other Spoon setup - I had to re-do the clear where I cut and filed, but if you are seeing that, it means I am running over you!

I have an 04 as well. I just got a spoon snorkel too, if you could post pics of the install (mainly at the radiator cover and in the lower grill area) I would greatly appreciate it!
