04 UK Standard Head Unit
There's been some speculation as to what the standard Head Unit in a UK 04 is, Mark T and now me can confirm its a Pioneer DEH-M7317 ZH. I found this out earlier while installing some rear Lucid panels.
I assume a CD changer would plug into the white socket?
I also saw no evidence of exisitng wiring for the optional extra rear headrest speakers, there is a square shaped plug behind the passenger side rear panel but I also saw this on my 01 S.

The headrest speaker wires go straight to the harness by the looks of the retrofit kit on the Lucid website - recommended for "talk radio" only
I think sticking with the rear panels is the way to go.
PS The reason I knew the OEM unit was a Pioneer was because I spent some time when the MY02 was released investigating an adapter for an Alpine changer - the serial number on the Pioneer unit was different to that expected by In Car Discount and so I thought I'd just go straight for the full Alpine route.
Can anyone who has fitted replacement front speakers explained how the wiring to the tweeters works
I'm considering an upgrade (not sure how much of a difference it will make since I've got rear panels anyway) but b4 I take off the door panel I'm wondering whether 16cm din speakers can be replaced without interfering with the tweeter wiring

The normal situation with a component set is that the speaker cables go to the woofer which then has a little crossover circuit on it and the tweeters cables connect to the woofer.
Therefore the chances are that your tweeters won't fit on to any replacement door speaker unless you buy a component set.
