I am thinking of making my own oil catch can. I have looked at the fittings and have found a couple different aluminum bottles that can be used. Anyone else done this. Looks like I could make it for less than $20.

 

I've been using a mini inline air compressor filter from walmart (or from lowes if you want a black one instead blue) with excellent results on my daily driver.

you'll see it has been discussed many times, but the correct place to put it is between the pcv valve and the intake manifold.

I thought of using one of the camping fuel bottles. $5. and run some fittings similar to the Cusco. I figured total cost less than 20 bucks and about one hour of time including install on the car.

Well I got all the parts today. Brunton cherry red aluminum ceramic lined bottle. Two fittings and some hose line. Total was $16 and some change. I got the holes drilled for the fittings and things have gone together nicely. It is a perfect looking red and goes well under the hood. I have the botle upside down so I can either add a drain plug or unscrew the cap to empty.

 

when using the inline air filter, be sure to open it up, unscrew the inner white filter, and remove the black spiral disc at the top for better flow. The amount of oil in that picture is from only 3 or 4 days or driving.
