Default Comptech's Differential Housing Fix (pics)...

Talked with Shad @ Comptech today, he sent me some pictures of the machined piece they made for their differential housing; I will be purchasing this for my differential. They are working on pricing on the pieces so that they can add it to their list of products.

I included both the raw picture, and ones with a key.

Shad explained that the idea is to keep the differential from trying to bust out of the back of the housing, which is exactly what it did on my incident and theirs. The pieces that have the bolt in them snapped clean on each side as the differential slammed against it.

Comptech is 100% sure that this is going to fix anything, but it obviously looks like it will help. Only time will tell, and with me driving, time will definitely tell.

Looks like a good fix, however the gears will still wear out super fast with those crazy take-offs...

When are you getting your car back?

As soon as I find the money, should start ordering parts this week - hopefully. The whole fix is going to run around 2G's.

As for take-offs, I'll be experimenting when I get the car back. I want to take it to the track and do some low RPM launches, and do some launches letting the clutch slip a bit instead of popping it (like you suggested). I'm going to try to avoid doing anything that can snap stuff.

Finally! I hope this fix can take the abuse of high rpm clutch-drop. I've been waiting for this for a while now.

Hey, as soon as they're ready to sell those, I'll buy a set.

From the comments I think everyone is noticing, but thought I would mention, that's the Kaaz Differential in the stock housing, with the Comptech "braces".

I don't know what the stock diff looks like (in one piece) either, would be curious.

I've got a spare stock unit sitting in my garage:

I'll try to get it opened up for some pics this weekend if time allows
