I hope this doesn't become an issue down the road for us...

Mitsubishi's new policy is having an effect on me but its not the one they were hoping for. They are making sure I won't become a customer. They will lose more money on lost sales than they will save on refused warrentee claims

i don't know that that story is 100% true.... more than likely a Mitsu dealership employee was at the track or auto-x and then told his employer..............

i have been to the auto-x, dragstrip and roadcourse with my Evo and no one has ever called to tell me I don't have a warranty....

Mitsu if you are reading this....My name is charlie...i live in new jersey somewhere....

Hey um Charlie....Mitsu didnt call them and tell them it was voided, they waited til it was gonna be used then popped their cherry. Just one more reason to keep it on the street....less of a paper trail

wonder if I call the dealership and ask if my warranty has been voided if they would tell me? wish I knew someone that was "cool" at a dealership to look it up.

I am sure a story or two like this has happened with almost any high performance vehicle from covettes to mustang cobra's, etc..... Auto-X is pretty hard on the transmission, so i could understand why Mitsu wouldn't want to warranty something like that..... (i didn't read much of that scca thread, so forgive my ignorance).

Something needs to be done about these companies selectively voiding warrantees. Most of the autoxers and racers out there maintain their vehicles well beyond the level of Joe Schmoe who buys the car to tool around town in.

Here is a hypothetical... Do you think some little ricer kid who buys an Evo and rips the crap out of it every light down the street is any hard than an autoxer who does an event every month. I think not.

Maybe its time for us to start writing congressmen/senators/etc.

You can usually tell abuse..... i think there are lots of problems with the S2000's and rearend problems with young drivers (S2000 chris)...... same with the Evo and transmissions....... i think that is more of a judgement call...all depends on what kind of dealership you have, and your relationship with them.

if the clutch goes out in 2k miles more than likely it is abuse........ people are sneaky.... look at all of the overrev's that people try to claim is warranty.... 5th to 2nd at 90mph = 12,000+++ rpm, but people try to get it fixed for free...... maybe the dealers should write to congress about that.

Well Scot,

There is a difference between driver error and mechanical error. If its mechanical error it should be covered under the Honda warrantee. Unfortunately I think Honda pushes everything into driver error to get out of fixing the problems.
