Beware of Potenza Dealers
This is a long story..so please bare with me
About last week, I posted a thread concerning my rear S-02's. The right rear tire had been torn, and thus a proper replacement was necessary. I contacted a local Bridgestone/Firestone dealer and asked if they had any rear S-02's in stock. The guy on the phone said they did not, but he assured me that he can order a pair which will arrive shortly within a couple business days. I told him the right specs (225/50R/16 92W) and stressed that I needed the exact tires. He courteously guaranteed me that the S-02's will arrive, and I concurred with his assertions. He then asked me for my license plate (which I gave), and then he asked me for a major credit card that I may have. He said that I needed to pre-pay for the tires. I was hesistant to give it to him over the phone, so I told him that I will "pre-pay" for the tires at the shop. I arrive at the shop to check if the tires are right, and to my dissappointment, the guy had ordered the 205's not the 225's. At this time, I was talking to another guy from the store, and he even commented that the guy ordered the incorrect set. I then once again told the exact specs, and he searched them in their computer. He asked me how much did I see these tires selling for. I told him I don't know. Then he replied, "..because these sell for $300." I first thought it was a good price for a pair, but he then corrected that it was $300 a piece. I was really surprised at this price. I knew Potenzas are high class tires, but I wasn't expecting them to be that high. I told him to order a pair, because I desperately needed the tires. Luckily to my graces, TIREGUY picked up my distress signal and informed me of his available inventory which contained the coveted S-02's. I purchased them for a MUCH LOWER price, and was able to get my tires installed. The guy from Bridgestone/Firestone contacted me the next day and informed that they have the tires. I told them I did not need them and told them of the better situation. I didn't feel like arguing, because I was just glad that I had my new tires.
I don't know if the guy was being misinformally honest or was trying to hackle me. Anyways I have my tires and that's all.

Jim,
Any news on the arrival of the rear S02's? I need a pair really bad...got cords showing on the left rear.
Also, how do I call an order them from you? Your PM tab is gone and I can't email you through this site.

I second that... just got raped by my Firestone dealer... Due workload, I put off getting new rears on my Honda. Several weeks ago I checked and everyone was out of the tires. Then I noticed that the nylon was showing through on the rear right tire. So I went to the Firestone dealer (who had previously quoted me a price allowing a "Cost + 10%" coupon a coworker had given me -- this worked out slightly cheaper than ordering them online).. they were out but found a set in california. They put them on yesterday and rang it up as $627 and refused to accept my coupon since they were shipped in from out of state...
