Butler Tire In Atlanta
Hey guys, I just got off the phone with one of the employee's from Butler Tire in Ga. I think they are trying to screw me over with my tires. You can read about how it started here. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220308
About last week Monday, I got my two rear tires changed. They somehow put on my rear right Bridgestone Potenza S-02 225/50R16 92W (OEM tires, I wanted). While on the rear left side they put Bridgestone S-02 225/50ZR16.
I thought my car handled funny and it did. I brought it to the attention of some fellow s2k members that gave me insight and basicly told me not to mixed the two tires; which caused it to handle funny. I brought it back to them on Tuesday addressing the problem and they say they will try and find me another OEM S-02 or "work" something out.
Well, I honestly think it was a mistake and they didn't mean that. So I gave them a chance to correct it. So after Tuesday of last week, I waited to call again today (I figured I give them a couple of days) to correct my problem. Well, the guy basicly told me there isn't "much differences" between the ZR and W rated tire just speed. He told me I should be fine, and my car will run fine. (At this point I started to get a little mad) I told him I don't think so and I didn't pay for the ZR tires I paid for OEM S-02's. Then he basicly went and told me that he will be out of town next week and my OEM S-02's will arrive this Friday (7/23/04).
Now which brings me to my question, I know the Bridgestone plant had some kind of fire. The OEM S-02's are on backorder and so on... so is this guy pulling my leg telling me the S-02's are coming on Friday or do you think it is legit? Also what would you guys do? If he doesn't have the OEM S-02's on Friday should I just settle for 2 225/50ZR16 tires or should I just be an @$$ and ask for a refund?
Honestly though I don't think it would be right to ask for a refund.... since I did use their tires... I don't know really what to do... any insights will help
Thanks

Those tires are very different and should not be mixed. The Porsche tire is 1/2" narrower than the S2K tire. I have the tire in stock and can ship it out ASAP. Just give me a call if I can help.

Alan,
You should get the tires you paid for. If your receipt shows the OEM S02's then I wouldn't settle for anything less.
I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you because I remember recommending them to you.
Let us know how things turn out. I would at least give them until Friday to see if they show up.

I hope that your not talking about the Doraville store. They know, at that store anyway, how particular S2000 owners are about their tires. If your problem is with another store I suggest you elevate the matter to someone higher up in the company. Send me a PM and we can discuss the matter in greater detail.
Alan -
I'd be interested in hearing how this turns out. I'm approaching time for new tires and was considering Butler Tire. I've been in a couple of their stores and they seem to always have some nice cars in the shop and the stores are pretty clean.
This may only mean their appearance has fooled me into believing my car would be treated just as nicely.
thanks...

Glad that worked out for you. I called Jim for my tires after trying to explain to the local tire store idiots that S2ks have their own tire needs, and that an HR rated Goodyear Eagle was NOT comparable to a stock S-02. I could have made better use of my time explaining quantum physics to my beagle.
Then, when I got my tires from Jim, the local jackasses installed a 205/55/16 on the right front and a 245/45/16 on the left front (I went with S-03s) and, obviously the same problem with the rears. I swear I am THIS close to buying a tire machine
