I have to be the first on this site to run A NEW '05 MUSTANG GT!!, and here's the story...


I started out with some Spider Man 2 action, and found myself a little pumped on my way out of the theatre... (nothin' get's me going like a good love story ). When sitting directly in front, puffin' its feathers like a proud Peacock... was a new '05 red Mustang...

V6...

People flocked around this engineer's ride like cops at Neverland...

Unimpressed... I left and dropped off the lady...

I then proceeded to meet a client down in Monroe to drop off his checks from closing on his home (credit card payoffs...). On I 75, as I was passing by the Flat Rock Ford Plant... the "Home of the Mustang", ANOTHER '05 Mustang wizzed by... and this one- A black GT! I tell you, the difference in body style... dynamics, and overall machismo between the GT and V6 is HUGE...! The base model just looks hokey.

Anyway... a typcial long joeking story made short... I dropped it down to 3rd at 70 and caught up. At 100mph, I drew next to him and slowed to 80 to pace... he looked over and gave a quick smirk and dropped a gear to match... we took off with an even start and he pulled me about a 1/2 car from 80 to 110 (before we hit more traffic). I was starting to real back up to even when we ran out of strip. I'm curious to know what would have happened as we hit 120 or higher.

The car was definately a beast though! I made my exit and he followed me as I pulled into a gas station. We conversed over the ride, and he told me that he head's up a couple Design teams at the Flat Rock plant... and he was in the middle of taking a couple quick sample runs to see how some modifications to suspension felt at higher speeds. He thanked me for the run, and then jabbed me in the boys when he said: "I was holding back..."

Nice run! I haven't seen one yet in person. They look kinda good in pictures though, much better than the previous gens.

He was holding back? Yeah right! But to be honest, those new GT's with 300hp, should be good for mid-13's, as opposed to low 14's for the current GT's, hence making it quicker than the S2K. But how will it handle compared to our S? Not in the same ball park, I suppose.

 

I wouldn't think so.... They supposedly made them substantially lighter... but this has led to increased issues with handling at higher speeds... b/c obviously... they're not the most aerodynamic rides...

 

Well, neither is the S2K, but low-speed handling is also very important.

So they made the car lighter and more powerful? That should make it much quicker than before then; should be good for low to mid-13's. One thing I hate about that car is the ancient-looking halogen headlights, but I have yet to see one in person. Perhaps I should go take a test drive soon, if they have it already.

 

If he has 300+ horsepower what do you expect. Nice run...

 

joe, what color you got, i seen 2 other spa's on 96 saturday on my way to fowerslville, also i seen 3 in a row new gt500's or w/e the new ford supercar thing is suppose to be, it was a beautiful thing ...

 

I'm a Suzuka blue. I have SRgt1's on my car... I'm the only one in Michigan that seems to have them on Suzuka (or at all in the detroit area!) On Saturday, this is humerous... b/c I saw two spa's on 96 as well... I was driving my brother's car, back from playing some pick up basketball at a park off of 8mile and Wixom... and saw one at the Novi Rd Exit... then as I pulled onto Inkster Road... I saw a second one. The first was an '04.

When did you see the three GT's!?? (just GT's too... used to be GT40, but dropped the 40) I saw them a couple months ago when I had my Exploder... two black and a silver... with an SVT team focus leading the pack... they were making 60 to 120 jogs back and forth... in almost a synchronized swimming fashion on the highway (96 again... by Middlebelt) They just looked so fluid and effortless!

What color is your car? (seemshow I can't seem to find it on the site anymore! )

 

As for the 300hp... yeah, I guess I'll finally have to quit raggin' on Mustang GT's... Bastards....


...but in actuallity... I'd still rather have the S (curves an all), b/c we all know... just like previous models... there'll be more Mustangs on the street then crack in Harlem... a dime a dozen as always...

Mine is spa yellow, btw i live right off of middle belt and eureka right by metro air port. And saturday they were all three white and i seen another white in the sunoco gas station on eureka right before 275... Those cars are beauties.
