Default New Timing Chain, Cam Shafts, and 72k service :(

Oh no!!

My car went in for its 72k service today. Amongst my usual requests and walk around the car with George , I asked him to listen to my 'funny engine rattle upon starting when warm' problem. Horror on his face, and he thinks it is the Timing Chain tensioners? (is that right?)

Might need it to be in for longer than today for the work. I told him i need it back for Thursday to get up to Arran so can he look at it and fix it as fast as possible.

If he can't do it in time, then he advises against driving the car as it will invalidate the warranty work needed to fix it if the car goes wrong!

So now i am on tenderhooks hoping i get the car back in time, otherwise it looks like Arran is off for me

I HOPE that he can fix it in time.

Anyone had this problem before and can give me some details on their experience.

Ian,

Fingers crossed for you!!! You can try asking for a demo 'S' as a courtesy car?

What appalling timing

Hope it turns out to be something far less serious than the Worst Case Scenario, Feathers.

I was considering that, No S in their dealership right now (except the red one i saw in for its service) I did see a CTR demonstrator.

Any nice dealers out there wanna lend me a demo S (or NSX? ) for the weekend? PM's accepted if you don't want to be public about it

DO NOT go for the NSX, everyone will be laughing at you. On a worse case could you get a lift up to the Arran meet with Steven (the jock) M?

It wouldn't be the same without you

Actually, from a thread by Brian M, it sounds as if your car may benefit form a new timing chain as well.

Sorry to spend your dough if it's not a warranty item (which it should be!) but if it's stretched/worn, it's simply gotta go.

You understand why they don't want you Vteccing round Arran? Big bang if it jumps a tooth, or worse.
