Custom Exhaust project-Done!
I recently picked up a OEM exhaust (thanks Chasmo) to modify with aftermarket mufflers. I have an arc welder coming in a few days for the welding part.
No I don't know how to weld ........yet, I've already told Erin that there will be no beer consumption during the welding process.
Here are a few photos to start.....when I'm done, I'll try to get a how to together for "under the hood".
I've disected the oem muffer. Here are a few pics to start:

Mufflers off

There are three layers of steel which comprise the outer shell. No wonder the thing is so heavy!

The inlet pipe is preforated in the middle section and then lets out into the rearmost (relative to the vehicle) section.
The bulkhead between the two chambers has a few holes also.....
It is a two chamber design, although there are three compartments inside, only two pictured seem to be part of the system.
They weigh a ton!

Stick welding exhaust is a pain in the ass. It can be done with low heat , small rod and alot of practice.
Mig is the perfered choice.

Mig=more $ than I wanted to bother with......the arc I picked up uses small rods and has a variable amperage output. And it was inexpensive.
Thanks for mentioning the heat level, I'll make sure it is low.
