Phase 2 begins tonight.

The S is on jack stands and the stock exhaust should be off tonight.
I welded my adaptors together and should be done this week. I decided to forgo all manner of muffler save for the factory resonator.

I did some research and I hear that keeping the factory resonator and putting straight pipes yields an agressive sound, yet maintains the low/zero droning of the full factory system.

Not as loud as you think.......check this:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry4747654

Tinker thinks that it is much more quiet than Invidia except at topend.

In any event.....minor set back.....my adaptor joint is not airtight.....
I think I need more practice....

When I practice laying down a bead, I'm getting a nice weld, but when it comes time to weld my work my welds look like crap.

I'm going to practice a few more weeks and see if I can't do any better. Worse comes to worse, I'll take it to the pros.........

Nice, Jeff. I'm laying dollars to doughnuts though that it'll be louder than you think.

Prove me wrong! Nothing like bucking convention.

Ok.....it was nice to try welding, but my results are sub standard. Arc welding and exhausts are a difficult combo.

Although I put down a few really impresive welds during practice sessions, I'm unable to create a product that I'm happy with.

Time and additional costs to make the planned result are beyond my budget, so I'm terminating this "do it yourself" project before it gets out of hand.

I have an appointment at Lou's Custom Exhaust (www.louscustomexhaust.com)
on Monday to either install straight pipes in place of the oem mufflers(retaining the Helmholtz and resonator) or some Magnaflows....

So what Magnaflows do you all like?

Oval Body
Oval Mangaflows---check out 14818 or 14814

or

Round
Round- check out 14852 or 14854

Slant or straight cut tip?

I was thinking about the optional sound dampner 5 inchers, so I can have the easy option of going LOUD, rather than swapping exhausts.

Opinions for my dearest firends??

I don't like the round ones. They are too ricey.

Get the one with angle cutted tip. It looks cool.

Oh, you are keeping the Catalytic converter, right?
