Default SuperSprint exhaust on '04-05 S2000

I've been looking to get the SuperSprint exhaust for my '04-05 S2000 for awhile and I did a search on it around here and noticed that there was some question about whether or not the SuperSprint exhaust would fit on an '04. Well, thanks to KAMcDonald for selling me his SuperSprint exhaust, I was able to try installing it on my car this afternoon.

Had some trouble taking the nuts off of the cat, stupid nuts were already rusted with only ~2000 miles on the car! Ended up stripping two of the studs on the cat, so I'm probably going to need to goto Midas to get them fixed ... bleh.

Anyways, the install went beautifully otherwise ... There were no fitment issues at all. The '04 S2000 stock exhaust hanger towards the rear of the car normally has 3 hangers, 1 on the car and 2 on the exhaust itself. The SuperSprint exhaust only has 1 hanger towards the rear of the car. If I tried to fit it the way which would make sense, then the exhaust would hang up too high and would be touching the rear bumper. However, since there's 3 wholes, we just used the other one which doesn't make as much "sense" and it hangs perfectly!

The sound is a lot louder than stock, but I think part of the sound is because I'm hearing the leaks coming from the cat. Notably, at 60mph in 6th gear while cruising there is absolutely no audible exhaust droaning. It sounds stock! Hopefully I'll be able to comment more on the sound of the exhaust once I get the studs on the cat fixed.

We did run the car real quick with nothing behind the cat and it sounded REALLY mean! Would love to run the car like that but I'd imagine I'd get in a lot of trouble with the local law enforcement

Here's some pics I grabbed at today's "photo shoot" in Reston of the exhaust... It looks practically stock on the '04s!

Can you post some side shots of the exhaust? IIRC the tips on the SuperSprint are cut at a slight angle to be flush with the exhaust cutouts on the '00-'03 bumper; I was just wondering whether that would look odd with the '04 bumper.

From behind though, it looks great!

You can get replacement studs from your dealership for a few dollars. I broke one off that was rusted and had to replace it. All you have to do is tap the old ones out and then tighten the new ones on with the nuts.

that looks awsome....compliments the 04 rear very nicely.

I stripped a cat bolt removing my T1R.....just takes a little time and patience and that sucker will "tap" right out.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Mine too, but I'm torn between it and the MY04 Mugen. We'll be discussing this yet again very soon.

I have the version with no resonator ... Like I said earlier, because of the exhaust leak, I can't get a good gauge of what it will sound like once I fix the leak.

Thanks 03_AP1 ... I'm gonna try and buy the studs and nuts from a Honda dealership on Monday and then try and fix it myself during the week.
