Default Air horn installed - & Loving it!

After reading all the posts about replacing the stock horn with something louder (& more fun!!) I finally did it last week while on vacation. I went the Rick / GregStevens route and installed Fiamm air horns. Got them at NAPA for $26 - two trumpets, compressor, relay, nuts bolts, etc. Installed like Ricks, mounted everything on a metal bar (including the relay) which was then mounted via the stock screw to the car. Stopped at Ratshack for an inline fuse and some insulated connectors. WOW does this sound cool! Like everyone has said who have done it I now look for reasons to beep the horn. My wife thinks I'm nuts. Well, hell, maybe I am. But these sound great. MUCH louder than stock and not that annoying squeak - a much deeper tone. Absolutely a great mod for $30. I wish I'd have done it earlier!

Welcome to the Fiamm Club!

And your wife is right, you are nuts! (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

Anything's better than that stock "girlie-man" horn.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's wife does the "rolly-eye" thing when I come home with a new car or a new something for my new car.

I'm with you buddy, although I installed the triples. I'll be updating my webpage soon with the install and pics. I have actually stopped pressing my remote lock button twice in many cases because the short 'beep' is now VERY LOUD...especially when parked in a large parking garage

Can the two horn model be upgraded to the three?!? I'm guessing the compressor is the same, it's just an extra horn and the air tube routing right? I left space on the mouting "bracket" just in case

Wife factor history...

-Loved the car and test drive, was 100% behind me getting it.
-Thought it was neat, but VERY geeky that there was an online community for the car. Couldn't belive that we came up with a nickname for the car (Stook)
-Thought I wasted my $ on door speakers
- Likes Rick's stuff and thought it was a good buy
- Bought me a new head unit for Christmas - but still doesn't get it "Isn't the one it came with good enough?"
- Never told her about the throttle body boring
- Bought me the black chrome kit for my birthday
- Rolled her eyes about the Front STB, especially when I told her it really didn't do anything.
- Absolutely died when I told her about the X-Brace.
- "We're really DRIVING to North Carolina so we can drive around with a bunch of other "Stook" loonies? (She did have a blast though and realized that I'm not "crazy" when compared to that company!!)
- Knew for sure I had lost my coconut when she saw me doing the radiator blanket and talking about CAI's (thought I was mispronouncing CIA)
- Nearly doubled over with laughter when I told her I was "upgrading" the horn and almost peeed herself when she found out they were air horns. Wanted to know if they would play "Dixie".

The saga continues! I just keep telling her all the stuff Greg has done to "Scarlett II" and that gives her the "really off the deep end" measurement! Little does she know I'd do it all too! Except of course for that Red paint job

Why are you honking at people in your rear-view mirror?

I had to blow my horn a few times to demo it at the MD/DC/VA meet this weekend .

Welcome to the FIAMM club. The horns being louder should help you get noticed more by the huge SUVs. I've scared a few SUV drivers trying to cut me off. Plus, you get the added benefit of sounding like a Ferrari.

This is one of the least expensive and effective mods anyone can do. I highly recommend it!

I agree with the least expensive / best mods. These things rock! And you REALLY do get noticed more, scared the hell out of a woman in a grocery grabber when she was going to pull out in front of me!!
