Default Road & Track reports demise of S2000

Road & track magazine has reported that the S2000 will be killed in 2006 or 07 with no successor in the pipeline. Does this make the car a future collectable?

Hopefully the resale of our S becomes very good since the car will be hard to come by. Especially the pre-04s since their the last to rev at 9k. (I'm a bit Biased since I have a 02)
I would think that honda would revise the body a bit and turn the S2000 into a hatchback coupe with four seats or something like that along the lines of the rumors of the S2200 that was out. I would definatly pick one up if Honda made a RWD sports coupe, with 4 seats, that reved to 9K. Is there anything we can do to incourage them? Stretch the S2000 out a bit, make it a T top like the Supras and have it be a hatchback.

Good, what a great excuse for me to go and buy a new Lotus Elise.

I only have 2 years left on my '04. But I will still keep my "S"

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Honda will not change the current "S"

This is a whole different situation, but the reason why I got rid of my WRX was because just when i was almost finished paying it off, Subaru decided to become competitive and change everything after only 2 years.

I want my "S" to be collectible, not just another collectible"production" car.

I read this as well in a small caption at the bottom of the page... I think it is great how their is such a range of opinions on the matter. I personally would like to see the car continue with minor enhancements and if it does die then hopefully Honda will bridge the gap between RSX-S and the NSX for Honda enthusiasts that want a sports car.

My current situation:

I would like an upgrade from the AP1 but not willing the fork over $10k for one with nicer headlights and lower RPM (AP2).

I would like to stay with Honda as the S2000 is my fourth automobile from them.

I dont want to downgrade to an RSX and I'm not quite comfortable enough financially to buy an NSX.

Conclusion:

If Honda kills this and doesn't replace with another sports car I will be buying my first non-Honda automobile.

I'm sorry, but a Lotus is way to ugly and underpowered for that much money. A GSR can smoke that thing.

Ugly maybe, but have you seen hp to weight numbers of a Lotus? It is faster than an S.

I hope they do ax the S. Keep the value of the current ones higher. Also hopefully it will not turn into the next NSX. That thing is dead and burried and they continue to build them.
