Default Anyone have a ED 11Ov.2 in a Wlaurent box...

I have read the boards and from what I have seen no one has had a ED 11Ov.2 in a Wlaurent box. I currently have a Wlaurent box with a JL 8w3 and a JL e4300 series amp supplying the power to it. I am going to be upgrading the amp to a Slash 450/4 and I can't decide between a ED 11Ov.2 or a 11Kv.2. I want to get the O version but as earlier mentioned no one seems to have written a review of how it sounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PJK3 will have one in about a week and I am certain he will do a review.

I have not test fitted it yet (will do it tonight) as I just received it today.

When you say test fitting it... that means you already have the O series sub. I would love to hear you review on the sound quality!! If you could also let me know how easy it would be to convert my existing box to fit the 10". Could I just take it to my stereo shop and let them cut out a bigger hole? WLaurent, thanks for your advice, by the way buying my enclosure from you was great!!

Yes - received the Ov today and will be testing it for Philip tonight.

Unfortunately eD sent a 2 ohm DVC instead of the 4 ohm DVC that Philip was expecting. However, I am going to test-fit in an enclosure and fire it up to see how it sounds.

I will post back with details later this evening. If I have to modify the enclosure to fit it massive VC inside the enclosure - this will not happen until this weekend.

I just tested the Ov.11 tonight and have the following thoughts on this whole thing

KV.11
Nice musical sounding sub providing nice bass fill. Good solution for someone that is interested in keeping the sound quality tight and does not need to see there rear view mirror vibrating when sitting at the stop light. Begins to roll off at about 60-65 Hz. Good amp for it would be something that delivers around 250-300WRMS

AW100T
Not quite as musical as the KV.11, but can handle quite a bit more power. Very good SPL as the sub has a higher excursion capability. Freq. roll-off is abit lower at about 50Hz. Not quite as efficient as the KV.11 so you need to run it with an amp that will deliver a good 350WRMS or more. Although not a 100% natural sounding sub - it does not have that BOOMY sound that I have noted with subs like the MTX and Kicker units.

OV.11
Musically tight and fairly efficient. Provided about same SPL as the AW100T - but with a noticable improvement natural sound area. Also needs an amp that puts out a good 350+ WRMS. More musical than the AW100T.

Also - at this point you would be better suited to ship me your enclosure.

I upgrade the mounting hardware, cut the hole, mount it, test it - etc... However, if you want to have an audio shop do it you are more than welcome to. Just remember that you only get one shot at cutting the hole in the exact right place and in the correct size (sub must fit in enclosure and clear trunk hinge).

Great info WLAURENT! I have a couple of questions:

1) Would 300 WRMS underpower the OV.11 too much (should I use a KV.11 instead)?

2) When will the OV.11 box be available (4ohm) and what will pricing be like?

3) How do these compare to a larger box, like the JL Stealthbox for clarity, fullness, dB, etc?

Thanks!
Matt

technically speaking.... William has a 4 ohm (2 ohm DVC) 11Ov.2 right now...

now, whether he can sell it or not is another question. i need to talk to both William and Ben on that issue to see what's going to happen.

I think you could do OK with 300Wrms on the OV or the AW100T.

Unfortunately I do not have a price right now for the OV.11. Hopefully later today.

Any updates on price? Also - how much "thump" does this sub produce - I like to hear it, but I don't want my trunk to rattle like crazy.

Thanks!
