S 2000 Dyno !
OK guys, because seing is believing, Friday afternoon I took my S for dynoeing. The friend who made the dyno metering is a fellow owner of S2K (04 model), races and drifts his car in numerous events (he was at Megara drift show yesterday together with Nikkas and his blue S) and the results on his car can be found in a well known tuning magazine. So time for some numbers (pictures will follow by energetic). The car is a 8/03 f/l model with 22,500 km and dynoed 238,9 hp / 8,795 rpm and 19,9 kgm / 7957 rpm (best figures). The figures are very close if not identical to the ones given by Honda and according to my friend no S has ever dynoed less than 235 hp unless there is something wrong with its engine (his own car dynoes 245 hp which proves the common knowledge that 04 models onwards are a tad stronger/ perhaps to offset the different gearing and bigger wheels). Some other interesting facts:
- Looking at the figures and more importantly the graphs we see that the car needs to be squeezed out to get max hp (8,800 rpm is the engine cut off - ignore the 9,500 rpm indication)!! So if you want it all, U need to change gears at the rev limiter-nothing less will do!!
- The car has a respectable level of torque (a minimum of almost 16 kgm throughout the band, which increases to 19 + kgm after the VTec kicks in) This is no giant killing torque but ensures that 5th and 6th gear can be used in town with no problem
- Just before the vtec kicks in both torque and hp curves bend a bit. It might not look so much on the graph but you can feel the slight power loss as the timing of the valves changes. Again the Vtec kick in does not show on the paper as much as it does on the road
- 5th gear maxes out at 229 km/h. I don't know where you ve heard or read that it goes up to 235 km/h, mine (and all others dynoed as per my friend) will do 229 and I ve got the video to prove it.
More as Marios uploads the pictures and video!! Also Greek language may be used!

Very well done VAG!
To be completely honest, I have always wondered how mine would fare against the dyno.
Which brings us to an idea that I have been working on for quite a while now - of course, someone else might have brought this up in the past, but I wouldn't know, since I am a relatively new member:
Group dyno anyone?
