Talking Best Race of My Life!

Date: 3-9-04
Time: 11:40pm
Location: Miami, FL
Cars: Team S2k vs. Team Mustang

Description

Cruising on I-95 a bit pass 11:00pm on a Saturday night in my sebring S2000. At the 203st on-ramp to the highway, I spotted a silverstone S2000 from 1/8th mile away. Caught up to it and had a little fun back and fourth. Our cars were pretty much even throughtout the few races. Got off an exit since I needed to refuel on gas. The other guy followed, and we talked awhile about our cars as I was getting gas. I forgot to ask him if he was in this S2KI community, since I was still excited from the race. As we were talking, The corner of my eye caught a pair of white mustangs parked in front of the gas station's store. A new GT and a previous version of the mustang(I think it was a GT also). By that time, my fellow s2000 driver had spotted as well. They seems to be friends from the distance we were standing. After a while, they had notice us also, and was talking and smiling at our direction. After topping off my gas, we decided to do a few more runs before calling it a night.

Note: For the sake of being clear, I'm gonna name the cars.
silverstone S2000 - S1
sebring S2000(mine) - S2
new mustang - GT1
old mustang - GT2

Pulled out of the gas station heading back on the freeway (I was behind him) and notice the pair of mustang pulled out also. As we were heading towards the on-ramp, GT1 came up fast, cutting right behind S1 and GT2 was right behind me. I was expecting that we let the mustang past and do our little runs, and plus I wasn't sure that S1 was up for it anyways. Next thing you know, S1 downshift and start haulling as5, and the GT1 follow. I was like..... OOooo. I've raced with other people many times before, but never in a 2 team, 4 car race. . I suppose GT2 was joining also. (Position on cars: S1, GT1, S2, GT2)

We were hitting vtec as soon was we gonna on the highway. S1 pulled into the middle lane. GT1 pulled fast right into the far left lane. S1 managed to go fast enough to block the GT1 with a car in front of him. I pulled up pretty fast also, on the right lane, block the GT1 as he was trying to swing the the right side of S1. GT2 is right on my ass at that moment. We were weaving through a light traffic, and manage to stay up front with our 2 car block and in vtec majority of the time. We had the most difficult time with GT1 as it pulled very hard and was right on us. S1 saw an exit to another Hwy intersection, and decided to get on. We put our turn signal on to let them know that we're heading that path. The GT's followed. It was a 2 lane, ~35mph curve. S1 was in front of me, and GT1 was right next to me, followed by GT2. All the cars took the corner hard, and you can see the GT's tires were screaming going into the turn. Our S's ripped up the road and turn the turn so fast that the pair of GT's didn't know what hit them. Boom... , , they got nothing on us. By the time we got on the hwy, the GT's were so far behind that I can feel them crying. The GT's then got off the next exit and left the race. As I also pulled up to S1 and gave a big thumbs up for the exciting race. I shouted out to the S1 driver that I'm gonna called it a night. So we both headed our own ways.

I had a long drive back to home, since we were racing the opposite direction of the way I wanted to go. But it's ok. The drive back was well worth it, since I don't think that I will ever encounter a race like that ever again.

Congratulations, you have won the award for the most difficult test of reading comprehension!! Anyway, here's what I got from your story:

2 S2000's were being followed by 2 Mustang GT's (one new, one old).. You both got scared and tried to get away, but the GT's were pulling on you. Both S2000's then did their best to block the GT's advance, but ultimately had to take an exit ramp at insanely high speeds to get away and run home..

Glad I could help. It's not everyday that I get to utilize my skill for understanding seemingly meaningless and encrypted spurts of english.. I guess my work in China and Japan has finally paid it's dividends..

Well, I just figured that I cut out the "I" and "it's"....etc, I would make the post a lot shorter. I didn't think people like reading complete sentences anyways....or at least not in this community. Besides, I'm not really writing a paper for english class or something. But I do admit that I might have cut out too much....to the point where the story is confusing.

but ultimately had to take an exit ramp at insanely high speeds to get away and run home
I just wanted to see how the GT's hold up on corning. That's all.

Sounds like some highway fun. I have only had a similar experience on the 2002 Nopi tour, going from birmingham, AL to ATL. It was awesome. Wish I had my s2000 at that time...But my GSX held it's own. Congrats on a fun night of racing...But I would stayed on the highway n' seen what the true outcome of the race would have been....Everyone knows that GT's turn like schoolbus's.

True. We would off kept racing for awhile. But the GT's got off the next exit coming out of the corner. We thought they would catch up and kept going. Oh well.
