Best engine ever made? Which would you choose?

3sgte. Toyota 4cyl turbo used in MR2 turbos and Celica all tracks.
Can be made to SAFELY and RELIABLY put out 300 hp for just a few bucks in modifications. Not that hard to get it to 400 hp. VERY strong bottom end. If kept up well will run forever and can be driven to put out power or deliver good gas milage dependng on your thirst for boost.
A lot of Toyota cars that race, including Supras, use the engine because it can be made to put out 600+ hp just like the Supra six, but is less weight.
CLOSE SECOND: The mazda three rotor wankel. Guzzels gas but gobs of smooth power, high redline and cool sounds.

Chevy LSx or Ford 03-04 S/C 4.6 DOHC V8, tons of torque, revs pretty high, so tons of HP as well. Very cost effective as well. They'll run for well over 100,000 miles putting out that kind of power, to top it off. Very versatile designs, both designs are used in numerous applcations invarious sttes of tune and build.
Maybe the MOPAR Hemi design - still going strong and making thousands of HP in professional racing.
Not much else from other makers has nearly the power output, cost effectiveness, versatility, and longevity of these designs, IMHO.

I Like the new Corvette engine 400hp 400tq and it can get 27 miles per gallon. i don't see the reason (except for weight) for building small displacment engines if you can get mileage like that.

My Favorite ones would have to be the engines from the Supra (2JZGTE), Skyline (RB26DETT), and the RX7 (13BREW).
I REALLY like the engines honda makes, but from what I know, they just cant reliably handle the HUGE amounts of power that the ones I listed can make...
