Default Gallery update for members

Dear members,

ITS DONE!!

I released the changes to the gallery to the servers today. There are a lot of changes, more designed to improve how you get around and use it. There are no new features that I know of and I probably removed a few that didn't work right. Have a look and tell me what you think. I tested the multi-uploader in Firefox on Windows, IE6 and Safari. Sorry it doesn't work with FF/Mac. Nothing i can really do about that.

UPDATE

The file server rebuild is complete. It took longer than hoped but doesn't it always. It's not entirely finish as the data from the old disk array needs to copied to the new array. This is happening now and will take a couple more hours. During this time the site is running by making the old array READ ONLY. If you try to update your avatar or some such for the next couple of hours IT WILL FAIL. This is expected. Please defer any such changes until tomorrow to be safe. Thanks for your patience and sorry for having it offline for so long. I'll post another update when the new drive array is online and you can update avatars, badges and upload photos again.

------

Next week I'll be releasing a significant update to the Gallery. The focus of this update is to enhance and fix the current functionality to make it more useful and more robust. There are no significant new features, just a rework of existing functionality. The update will focus on:

- Improved album layout
- More storage space available
- Multi-file (Bulk) upload completely reworked
- General layout improvements

I suspect that it will take you a few minutes to get used to the new layout of some of the items so i recommend that you take time to get familiar with the new design.

On Monday we plan to take the server which stores all of the images offline for about an hour to replace it. Hopefully the annoyance will be minimal. I'd prefer not to do it on our busiest day of the week but I'm relying on outside help to install the server so I have to work with what I have.

All in all I think you will appreciate this much needed upgrade. There are new features and continued enhancements planned but I wanted to do it in stages. First we get what we have working great and then add some new stuff later.

Cheers and thanks!
Erik

Bump.

UPDATE: The file server is now running off the new drive array and all functions should now be functional again. feel free to upload your images or change your avatar. We've now got 1 TB (1 terabyte = 1024 GB) of online storage for photo hosting and email. We are good to go for a few months anyway

Bed time, night~

Erik great having the albums working again but I have been trying to use the Multiple Upload function and I get a few photos dragged into the box and it appears to be uploading them but then they are NOT showing up in THAT album What do you think Is wrong?

gina I'm not 100% sure. I'll have to go and do some testing. Multi-file upload is completely redone in the upgrade I'm doing on thursday or friday (depends on what issues come up). As for how it works now I'll check and get back to you.
