Hey everyone, I am a first time poster, long time lurker, and I have a few questions..
After going through a turbocharged Integra GSR and an SR20DET powered 240, I decided to get something more reliable yet still quick..i.e.. s2000. It has 50,000 miles on it, and I still have 50,000 miles remaining on the honda 100k mi warranty. I want to keep the warranty still going, or at least make it appear to the mechanics that no work has been done that would void the warranty.
A friend of mine has an s2000 and he's always mentioning the "final gear" modification, but I cant find any information for it, just videos which really impress. Can someone link me to a page or thread with info on it? Can anyone with experience with them list their pro's? Cons?
Im also looking at the vortech superchargers and see that they are completely street legal and smog-legal, but then again so was my turbo on my integra, and it failed off the charts even with a brand new oem cat.
And finally, can someone just break down to me what mods will ruin the warranty? Is a Vortech Superchargers 3 year warranty more valuable than a honda 50k mi warranty? Thanks!
From what i know about the Extended warranty, it is not technically a warranty and they can void it for any reason, If you change your rims they can void it.
The Final Gear Modificitaion its one of the best mods you can do, There are a few videos going around recently showing a 4.77 and a 4.57. they are sold at
ricks2k.com
with the final drive gear option, what is the 0-60 improvement? 1/4 mile? just curious.. and does it cause trouble with the 4.57 gear for freeway driving? around town driving? it sounds too good to be perfect.. ?
Thanks
I don't have gears, but i'm looking into them. I don't think the 0-60 and 1/4 times improve much due to the extra shifting but i'm not sure. i know that some people got better gass millage in the city but i'm not sure about the freeway, but i think it revs about 500-1000 more then stock.
Gotcha. Do you know a lot about suspension? I'm very happy with the stock handling and the oversteer doesn't bother my typical driving. Do you think swapping out the stock springs for eibach pro kit springs would hurt the handling? Help it any? I would like the tire to meet the fender a little better as there is approximately a 2 1/4" gap right now. I intend on keeping the stock shocks for a while. Thanks again for the info
the 4.57 gears will be about 500rpm over stock on the freeway in 6th gear.
and it will improve your 1/4 mile and 0-60 time. so far i've only had a 13.6@103 or so, but I am certain eventually i can nail a 13.4.
as for how it makes the car accelerate vs stock, obviously you can watch the video in my sig.
there is a lot more to this, and I'm in the process of creating a FAQ regarding the 4.57 gears. i get a TON of questions regarding this mod, so I decided to put something together that everyone can read. (after all, we all know EVERYONE reads the FAQs)
wisconsins2k: that would be great! link me when you finish? That should be a sticky.
Do you get a lot of freeway droning with your invidia exhaust? Im going to be commuting quite a bit and would hate for it to drone like my old turbo integra with greddy evo, or my 180sx with apexi n1..
I like the ride on the Eibachs AND the dealership here certified my car with them on it. I bought the car with those springs as a certified used.
As far as handling is concerned, my S did just fine on my crappy tires at the Dragon. With some better tires, I'm sure anyone would be happy with the handling.
