Default I've been caught

Someone got me for my signature and the mods replaced it with the one below. Now I need a new one.

My business is for the greater good, they should have let me keep it up.

James

Thumbs down

I am outraged and this does not even effect me.

This seems rather stingey and obtrusive. It is one thing to limit the sponsored group buy and vendor forum to those who contribute monitarily to the site, but it is another thing entirely to stifle the signatures of those wishing to promote themselves.

People post things for sale and want to buy items in thier signatures all the time. Why is it so bad to promote yourself in just your sig. J, Nick and others have already expressed concerns about starting threads of a solicitous nature but simply having promotional material in your signature should be free and clear.

This would go doubley and triply sure for people who have regular and/or gold memberships.

IMHO it is poor behavior of the site administrators to one: go and change the signatures without warning and two: to make it sound like those who had promotional sigs were being bad with the THIS MEANS YOU call out.

These signatures are not in every body's faces, the people who have them are not forcing people to click on them. They are not poping up, disrupting the S2KI experience for the people who are on this board.

My friend promotes his shop in his signature and I feel he has a right to do at least that because it offers a service congruent to the aim of this forum. He has had his wrist smacked for what has been described a solicitous threads in our Florida forum and that to me is totally logical and correct. The CO's stated thier position clearly and he/we complied to the best of our ability (not ever posting another service/good thread).

The banishment of promotional signatures, to me, is taking away a decent outlet for the "common guy" to help out his fellow S2Kers.

Example: Joe Smith has the knowledge and ability to take ordinary S2000 oil pumps and convert them into high capacity/high output oil pumps. Joe puts a line or two about his ability to do so in his signature for others that may want an item like that. WHY is that wrong????? Would it be better or different if he converted them into humming bird feeders instead???

Is member X's signature telling me of a product or service more obtrusive than say my signature with 15 animated badges????

Am I allowed to ask for items and services in my signature???

Why is it I can solicit for items I want to acquire and not have it the other way around.

I am going to post a link to this thread in the site info forum in the hope an explaination can be posted. I really hope the reason is warranted. I hope even more a compromise can be made.

Not everyone with something good to offer this forum can afford the expense of becoming a site sponsor to do so.

The outcome of this issue will greatly influence my decision to remain here.

James,

I am just advocating you and the other people I have seen with for sale type stuff in thier sigs. I am not flaming anybody just spilling out personal perspective and asking questions. Yes I was a bit mad at first but it is all good now. I just wanted to lobby a little bit for us little guys.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry6481908

No hatred/war starting intended I promise.

I can see both sides of the fence on this issue, but I feel that the amount of revenue generated by all of this sig text promotion of self is just tad on the insignificant side and ultimately, they are taking away something that brought value to the site, if only on the local level for most.

Hopefully they will see my point, but I thought it was important enough to persue even if they don't.

We shall see.
