Default The begining of the S2000

The SSM was a prototype in 1995. In 1999 Japan and Europe received their production cars. North American S2000's were first introduced in 2000.

Great thread!

The SSM Concept first appeared in 1995 at the Tokyo Motor Show. I know this for a fact because I still have the AutoWeek issue that first showed it off, although I will admit, some of the pages are stuck together...

Here is some info on SSM

I feel an ebay search coming on
I'd be grateful if you could let me know the date of this issue.
Cheers.

P.S. Great thread. Lots of scope for S2000 / SSM history & development info.

I've got loads of stuff - pics & technical - from when the S2000 was launched, but precious little about the SSM apart from a few pics which are readily available on the net - hence my interest in the AutoWeek article.
I'll have a trawl through my archive this weekend when I have a bit more time.
