How is it to drive an S2K in europe?
I usualy (on business) rent a car, very expensive. With a little luck I'll be traveling on vacation this summer through Spain, France, Swiss and Italy. Thinking about shipping my Stook for that trip. European owners - any pointers will be appreciated!

You can even rent one from luxury car rentals in paris, geneva, london or monaco.
Good things about driving in Europe :
- better highways, with higher speed limits (130km/h mostly everywhere, no limits in germany), fewer controls (in france they ticket you from 160km/h).
If you have foreign plates, you might as well drive like a madman, cause they sometimes just take a flash photograph of the front of the car and send the ticket to you afterwards.
You'll be shocked by how fast people drive, I usually cruise between 170km/h and 210km/h, and I'm far from being the only one doing this, sometimes I have to let some porsche or a8 pass me by...
- barely no cops at all on mountain roads, just beware of the crazy local boys in their subarus or s3's, they can drive pretty fast and like to challenge other sports cars, especially if you have non-local license plates.
- amazing moutain roads, BTW, especially in the alps.
- good drivers, the best ones are up north (germany, scandinavia), the crazyest ones are down south (italy, greece)
- roundabouts (you have to try the gigantic one around the Arc de Triomphe in paris, the most stressfull driving situation in the world)

Bad things about driving in europe :
- rain
- highway fares
- fuel price
- people don't like people with expensive cars, you might get spat on by some jealous pedestrians, or vandalised if you park in the wrong area.

oh, and I forgot : we have the best girls (apart from argentina and venezuela), and the most beautiful cities (venezia, roma, paris, stockholm, marseille, lisbon...)......
and CHEESE also!

Mike2K, don't even think about driving around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, it's a crazy place where the lone thing you can do is to praise just to avoid being bumped!
Yes Paris is a nice city, but certainly not while you are driving !

Thanks guys.. I know what european driving could be like, had experienced a taxi drive in Brussel in one of those stone-paved roundabouts, when he missed to exit, he just drove on the side-walk between the coffe' tables, almost hitting a waiter with a fully loaded tray.
Here I found that the mere sight of the Stook often cause other drivers an instant high blood pressure reacting like "let see what you got". More then I used to get with the Porsche.
I suppose there is no problem now-a-days getting Premium unleaded gas (petrol), Honda service if required (Heaven forbid) in major cities, border crossings..
BTW, I agree about the girls from Venezuela, a 10, don't know about Paris, Prague is another 10, London 3, Keiv 7, Tel-Aviv 6, Western Canada 5, California 7, shall I go on...

 

I agree with most of what le car just stated but be more careful in france and switzerland where police controls are more frequent than in other european countries.

I am in Europe almost every month, and the one thing I can tell you about ANY place in Europe...

- When you are in the left lane, people ACTUALLY get out of your way!

- All that stuff about driving fast does NOT apply to Eastern Europe. Don't drive fast there, or you will get a ticket. (Although the ticket will probably be cheap.)

- The BEST drivers are in Italy. They're crazy, sure, but they are VERY good drivers.

- The really fast cars come from Italy because you can drive as fast as you want. It may not be legal, but nobody will stop you. I passed a cop at over 210kph, and the guy did not even look up. I think the posted limit was 120kph.
