T3 is National but the S2000 is not moved yet
The good news is that T3 is National for 2006 thanks to all of our efforts; however currently the S2000 is not in T3.
Short recap:
Many people have requested the S2000 be moved to T3 (with adjustments if needed, to run even with the Rx8).
In the April FasTrack the CRB (Club Racing Board) said they would monitor the situation in the current season (2005) and consider the move for next season (2006). There has been no further mention in FasTrack since.
Since April, many more letters in support of moving the car have been sent in.
The approval process for reclassification is 3 tiered (Advisory committee, CRB, BoD - Board of Directors). Only the BoD can approve a reclassification but they only meet twice a year (Aug & Dec). This issue was not on their agenda for Aug, and it is currently not on their December agenda due to the someone from the Advisory committee who is against it (reasons unknown). An item is not put on the BoD agenda unless the CRB recommends it or a Director brings the items on his own (very rare). At this short notice before the Dec meeting only a Director can bring this as an agenda item and still get it voted on before the 2006 season; if not this item is dead until the 2007 season.
So the only way to make this happen is get the Directors involved, and to let them know you support it. This is the same thing we went through after the Runoffs trying to get T3 to be National for next year in the first place.

If you are an SCCA member, at the very least, please contact your area Director and let him know your feelings on this issue. The car can never be sped the 3.5 seconds it's behind the big horsepower front runners, it's much more feasible to equalize it to the Rx8's level.

"9. T2 - Reclassify the Honda S2000 to T3 (Burkett). The car is faster than the performance parameters of T3."
Here's the link to the bad news: http://www.scca.org/_FileLibrary/File/06-1-fastrack.pdf
So that means the car will NOT be reclassed to T3 in 2006.... it'll have to run in T2 again, which is a joke. I'm going to send in another letter to the CRB and I hope you all do too. The S2000 BELONGS in T3 with the RX8 and others and, yes, although it would be a front runner there, it could be slowed with weight, or an inlet restrictor. It DOESN'T belong in T2 with 2 ton, 400HP Cadillac CTSV's, Mustanks, Camaros, Firebirds and the like.
Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but it SEEMS like either the SCCA or Honda themselves (or both?) don't want the S2000 to be classed competitively, and it's a damn shame.
Can you ask Geoff to ask his dad why this decision was made? I'd love to hear what went in to this decision, though I doubt we'd get the whole truth from the SCCA OR Honda....
