Default Thinking about a new header

Which header gives the best gains? How much does a typical inatall cost?

Thanks,

No idea about which one but I know my buddy here locally got one from Rick's (site sponsor). Loves it and it really wasn't all that difficult of an install and we didn't even have a lift. Of course this is coming from the infamous "zip tie guy" so I really just helped a tad but I also would attempt the install myself put it that way.

Mugen 1st provided the most gains. Then Rick's released theirs recently that look strangely enough like Mugens. They both have the factory heat sheat mounts which help on engine bay temps. Rick's is cheaper too.

Check with 2nrwerks. They have a post floating around and are getting a lot of stuff on for the S. http://www.2nrwerks.net/

TODA has a nice one, but for off road use only. At least no emissions in this state.

I've got the Ricks header. I really like it.

it adds a nice exhaust tone without a CAT and it is much lighter and prettier than the stock header. It's a shame to put on the heat shields IMO. it is a truly beautiful piece.

My heat shields are on tho.

here's some shots of my MUGEN exhaust and the Rick's header.

J's racing gives the best gain but comes at a steep price, about $1300.00 to $1500.00. Rick's is a lot cheeper at under $700.00 and gives a very good gain in the lo to mid range where it is most useful.
If you stay N/A a 4-2-1 is best if you go FI. a 4 into 1 is best for that.

This is a Comtech header best for FI.

thanks guys. I guess I may go with the Ricks. Does anyone know about the Fujitsubo. Since it would match my exhaust. Anyone wanna help a brotha out as far as the install is concerned?

Willie,
Did you notice a difference with the exhaust and the header?

It's easy, I will help ya out. The only bolt that sucks to loosen is the one closest to the fire wall on the heat shield. Go with the Rick's it's the best for the money and better than most that are more money. if you have a test pipe you will get the most out of the header.

Yes, the car sounds and feels like a different animal now.

Gains as far as horsepower? well i've never dyno'ed the lil honda, so i don't know. But a better sound can fool you into thinking you've just got hp gains, but honestly i may have gained 5 or 6 (at best) and that's mostly from losing the Cat. Low to Mid range torque feels a touch better, and the car in general feels much lighter.

It's nothing like FI, I'll tell you that. But it has made my commute much more enjoyable. The mugen doesn't drone and the combo sounds like music IMO. It's a pleasure to have and worth the investment.

what exhaust combo are you running? are you losing the cat?

i wanna chip in my .02...

i'm running a fujisutbo exhaust, a generic test pipe, and i just got the j's racing header installed 2 days ago. the car is still quiet during normal driving, and it screams now when i punch it hard.

i felt that there's more power from about 4500 rpm and all the way to redline, and it's very smooth. i'm really digging my set up right now. couldn't be happier.
