Default Retractable Tonneau Covers

has anyone done this mod yet?....I like the idea of a tonneau cover but i hate the ones that come with the car cause you have to take the thing off manually.

If not then maybe this is gonna be my next project.

I'll venture to say that you'll be the first. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Is this something that exists, or are you just thinking out loud?
Caus I've never seen anything like what I think you're thinking about.

just thinking out loud for now but if no one has made one for our cars then i might give it a go....

Haven't thought out all the details yet but all we need is some type of moter hooked up to a tonneau cover and splice the connection into the top up/down switch with some type of delay on it.and also a cover that fits flush with the body

Does it sound that hard has anyone tried it before....?

Don't think we're on the same page i'm thinking of the kind like the bmw's, Z's, and the Vette's have.automatic kind

Many convertibles have this feature ...why can't we......?

Not too hard to make a motorized tonneau cover. As Boosted04S2k said, "Many convertibles have this feature", so it is fairly straight forward -- look at the Solstice, the Sky, the Porsches, the Corvettes, the SLKs, and so on. All you have to do is gut the trunk, re-design the whole trunk lid and the way the convertable top goes up and down and you'd have a motorized tonneau cover. (You may also have to move some other things around to keep the 50/50 weight distribution.) I say go for it and let us know how it worked out.
