Let us know how it works out. I had a Lancia Scorpion many years ago and used header wrap on a new (and very expensive) Ansa exhaust system. The whole thing fell apart after about a year. Seems the header wrap would cause uneven cooling, which would cause cracking. Made worse when the wrap would get wet from rain.
Hopefully, the new materials for both exhaust and wrap have solved that problem.

I gave this a lot of thought before I did it. First The pipe is stainless steel it will take a lot to make it rot away. As for uneven heat, the wrap would help in keeping the heat more even throughout the pipe. Just like when you weld cast iron, a lot of times you will wrap the parts that have to be welded in order to keep the heat even to prevent cracking or another brake.
The wrap is coated in black high heat silicone so it don't smell or smoke up or start to fall apart when water or rain is a factor.
The wrap is not the average 1/16" stuff you buy at a speed shop or auto parts supply but, a 1/8" heavy duty marine and equipment use application. It is high quality stuff.
To do my single exhaust it took about 75 feet of the wrap and 2 cans of high temp silicone. I went with a 3/4 overlap (heavy) and I still have a better than half can of silicone left. I also used 9 stainless steel 5/8" wide and 14" long zip ties. to keep it in place. I think CV boot clamps will work even better just an FYI
It will take about 125 to 150 feet of the wrap, 15 ties, and 2 cans of silicone to do a duel system. If you are worried about the added weight don't, it added about
4 Lbs to my car, well worth it's weight in Comfort

My Ansa was stainless too...cracked in multiple places.
It seems logical to think that wrap would help in even heat dissipation. But I guess the thermodynamics are more complex in practice. Do a google search...you will see a lot of people have experienced the same thing I did.
If you have a inexpensive and easily replaceable exhaust...then I'd have no problem using it again, since it does keep heat and noise down. The link Hygiene Boy has is a good example of an inexpensive exhaust, where if it cracks...no biggie, just get a new section for $25.
I'm not saying you did something harmful to your car...your exhaust may last 100k miles instead of just 12k like mine did. But in case anyone else is thinking about doing this, here is some info from someone who has done this before and was not pleased with the ultimate result. There are risks...and if I had a $1500 Mugen exhaust, I just wouldn't risk it.
