I can ask Todd if he can address the problem. I will ask him to read up on this and see what he can do.

Had a customer come by the shop about a month ago with the same issue. We fixed him up in a few hours with no parts needed. Depending on the severity of the noise, damage may have already occured then the inevetable would be a higher costly repair.

Call us/PM us and we will help you out.

There is a TSB for it and Honda will fix it for free regardless of warranty.

Could also be pad shift. My S has the same problem. My local honda dealer even replaced the rear calipers and brackets, but it still did not help. When the car is parked, I can slide the rear brake pads back and forth (front to back) within the brackets. My noise is when I hit the brakes, they grab the rotors, and slam into the front of the brackets. I know there are shims that keep the pad off the rotor, but are there a set that keep lateral movement from happening?

I will post some pics this weekend (sunday of course).

I was told tough sh*t, and to live with it from 2 different dealers (as well as the regional service rep).

I think mine is different. I don't have any noise when I hit the brakes, only when I start out or go in Reverse. Yours sounds like a much more severe problem and I would be nervous if it happened when I was braking. I hope they didn't just give you the run-around and say it's acceptable.

I hope Troy is right and it's covered at Honda. I do have an extended warranty on the vehicle, but I'd rather NOT pay the $100 deductible if I don't have to.

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin. It is a very common problem with S2000's. The rear axle nuts that keep the drive axles into the rear differential are loosened a bit hence the popping noise when changing direction especially reverse to forward. You have to regrease, retorque and stake the axle nuts assuming no other damage is done. The axle nuts may need to be replaced. Hopefully the splines on the drive axles are not damaged. Regardless of severity Honda has acknowledged this issue and should repair any damage free of charge. Good luck little buddies.
