Default Seafoam?

Anybody try using this to clean out their engine?

When I pulled my plugs the other day, I peeked down at my pistons and I have a ton of carbon in there. I'd like to clean it out, but I'm afraid of damaging seals or even bending a valve if a big chunk of carbon comes loose and gets stuck in a valve seat. It's kinda like if it ain't broke don't fix it thing, but I thought I'd check here anyway.

Porsche guys swear by it. I've only used it as a gas additive.

No downside I saw, but then again I didn't really see an upside either.

I just reasoned it was preventative maintenance.

Ive used it in my 5.8L v8 bronco. It smoked like a mother people thought my bronco was on fire.

Lots of the Miata guys use it; never heard anyone use it in an S2K but I don't think that means a thing. Judging from the amount of smoke blown out the tailpipe it's like Ex-Lax for the car No idea if it does anything though

+What others have said so far. I've heard of it helping with sticky valves/other engine crud-related problems.

I used it all the time on my Subaru and it smoked like crazy. Lots of fun when you're leaving a parking lot with 4 or 5 other cars that have done it as well...tons of smoke.

Haven't used it on the S yet, but probably will at some point.

My dad told me about a friend of his who had a Porsche 911 in the 70s and he would pour small amounts of water down the carbs so that when it reached the combustion chamber the fire would turn the water to steam and help clean the carbon off the pistons. He said it worked, but that was on a 911 and in the 70s, not an S in the modern day.

I wonder if anyone else has tried something liek this, either on the S or another car?

My engine is probably full of carbon deposits from all that oil that was being dumped into the intake manifold from the malfunctioning catch can. If someone here tries this seafoam and has no resulting problems, let me know. I wonder if it would adversely affect the AEM EMS.
