I found a page yesterday that said while the seafoam process does put out all that smoke and make you feel like it's doing wonders for the car, a good bottle of additive in your fuel tank before an oil change can do as much or more good.
seafoam in the gas helps clean fuel pump/fuel lines, injectors and a bit of the cylinder walls.
seafoam in the oil helps clean the gunk from everything that is lubed by oil.
Seafoam in the manifold is to really clean the manifold (due to PVC gunk) and clean the intake valves and a little bit of the exhaust valves and the cat.
Get rid of that catch can and get one of these from Wal-Mart or Lowes it works better and its only $12

Is it important to change your oil afterwards if you do just the intake manifold procedure?
I add seafoam to my oil hence the oil change I am not really sure how seafoam effect the oil properties hence I only leave it in for a very short time.
The bottle says that you can leave it in the oil in for an entire oil interval.
If you are only adding the seafoam thought the manifold or in the gas an oil change is not necessary
Where's the harm of a little carbon on the pistons? I'd be far more worried about putting some mystery-gunk in my expensive synthetic oil that I rely on to protect my motor at 9000 rpm.
