Default Modifry's Redline 2006 S2K

I installed Modifry's Redline Shift Beeper this morning in my 2006 S2K.

So far, I only did the first part of the install (the non-optional part). There are some minor differences from the pictures given in the online instructions.

The panel on the passenger's side uses two push-to-release pins and one phillips screw in addition to the other pry/pop off fasteners. I used the official honda-specified tools but they weren't needed for this simple task, almost any prying tool would probably work (pref. something wider than a screwdriver).

On the 2006, the convertible top connector/module appears the same as in the installation pictures.

However, on the 2006, the connector (C204) with the tach wire appears a bit different. It is turned 90 degrees, appears to be mounted a bit further inside and more to the right (as compared to the picture in the installation document), and also now has a small yellow box attached to its side. (This little yellow box is about 1 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch, and has a wire coming out of each end.) I had difficulty getting to the connector itself, so instead I just took off some of the electrical tape from the wire bundle that is going into the upper end, and located the tach wire as described in the instructions (the only medium blue with no lengthwise stripes - it does have some silver bands though.)

I used the extension wire to relocate the beeper to the driver's side.

I'm very happy with it. The unit works well, and the supplied beeper is super audible even with the top down. (I missed the audible alert; my RX-7 had one and I got used to having it.)

No offense to anyone that has one or the product itself, but, I will still rely on me being able to glance at the tach, if necessary, to not over rev. 9 times out of 10 I can tell by the engine noise when it's time to shift.

I was out on the track on Wed and my beeper didn't work. I found out really quickly that I had become accustomed to getting that input. I kept banging into the fuel cutoff in several spots on the track, even though I was trying to remember not to.

The inline fuse holder had broken. I went to Radio Shack and bought a new one between run groups. Afterwards it was once again easy to manage my upshifts.

That may be fine on the street, but try taking the time to glance down during an autocross run. With this, you never have to take your eyes off the course and/or sit and wonder how close you are to your shift point.

I know exactly what you mean.. I found it a great aid on the track where frankly there is no time to be looking at the tach.. without the beeper it is either short shift or hit the limiter. In fact I found that when running in a familiar track configuration I knew where I should hear the beep on good laps, and if it came late I was off the pace.

BUMP!

ottokrat's info has been very valuable for an MY06+ install. Due to the different orientation and less accessible location of connector C205, it was a lot harder to differentiate the tach wire from the three blue wires next to the one brown wire.

I also want to add that removing the two circular clips for the passenger tray disassembly requires one to push in the central part of the clip. This actually too me a while to figure out.
